Honesty, one thing I have learned is to never degrade the B School analysts. I don’t have any that work for me (I work alone), but I’ve seen some partners just be total pricks to them. All these bright-eyed bushy tailed analysts want is more pay and a higher social standard. They think doing so much tedious and tenuous work (along with the 100+ hours pay period) gets them closer. They’ll do anything.
If I had to do a 3 hour presentation for a bank M&A, you bet your ass I’m going to ask an analyst to put everything together. Would only take me 1/20 of the time to check it over than it took then to make it.

I like the generalist statement. Too many people want to be the jack of all trades in this industry and it just doesn’t work that way.

I think AI is going to kill the analysts, the same way it'll kill the law firm associates.
Once you have programs that can do the mindless, tedious work (cash flow spreadsheets, discovery, etc.) you'll need less people but smarter people, because instead of applying cookbook calculations, your junior people will have to do real research.

I love those 15 linked spreadsheets that crunch every number but rely on dubious assumptions picked out of some government or consulting publication without careful vetting of how those assumptions were developed. I've had to struggle through a few in my time, to figure out how they came up with their conclusions.

AI will run those numbers (same way applied econometrics is all canned packages now), but developing inputs and scenarios will still be art.

AP Exclusive: US shelves detailed guide to reopening country

The Trump administration has shelved a document created by the nation’s top disease investigators with step-by-step advice to local authorities on how and when to reopen restaurants and other public places during the still-raging coronavirus outbreak.

The 17-page report by a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention team, titled “Guidance for Implementing the Opening Up America Again Framework,” was researched and written to help faith leaders, business owners, educators and state and local officials as they begin to reopen.

It was supposed to be published last Friday, but agency scientists were told the guidance “would never see the light of day,” according to a CDC official. The official was not authorized to talk to reporters and spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity.

The AP obtained a copy from a second federal official who was not authorized to release it. The guidance was described in AP stories last week, prior to the White House decision to shelve it.

Musk is exhibit A for stupid people making money if they're good salesmen.
Elon Musk is “stupid.”

Perfect example of my point that you consider anyone who holds different opinions than you, regardless of their experience or expertise, dumb.

And yet you criticize others for “hubris.”

It’s quite apparent you believe the world would be a better place if you did the thinking for everyone.

Who goes to a casino anymore? Fanduel or Draftkings...

Sharps, people who also want to play table games or slots, people who want to have the option to flip futures via paper tickets, people who want the night out, etc.

Never, ever bet in one/two places exclusively. Shop your lines around or you're pissing free money away.

You can shop lines on line... no need to walk into a casino for that.

yeah the only reason to go is really for the night out and the free booze.

He's very smart at some selective things.

Quite dumb at many others.

I believe "eccentric" is the term that gets applied to such people when they're good enough at the selective things to be successful.

"It was supposed to be published last Friday, but agency scientists were told the guidance “would never see the light of day,” according to a CDC official. The official was not authorized to talk to reporters and spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity."

Just shows how dumb the people hired by this Administration are, yes, Virginia, there is a Deep State, and they're not going to allow you to bury things the American people have a right to see so they can make up their own minds. A smarter group would have accepted the findings, then subtly edited them and released them as an advisory document.

Now, I think the CDC goes overboard at times, because there is a paranoia built into infectious disease doctors who've handled things far more deadly than COVID, but the gist of the matter is we have known what has to be done to reopen the country safely for normal people who aren't rich enough to protect themselves:

Masks in any crowded place, social distancing, eventually small groups but forget crowds for a year or more
Telecommute as much as possible, avoid groups of people without masks in enclosed areas with limited ventilation.
Testing, testing, testing, not just those with symptoms but as much as possible.
Tracing the infected and testing all they got in contact with.
Isolation of the infected until they're no longer contagious.

This has been repeated ad naseum since March, but the only one getting tested are the people around the GO.
The Administration has done almost nothing to ensure the rapid expansion of testing, contact tracing and isolation.
Instead, they're pressuring Governors to open the economy and attempting to protect employers from liability instead of protecting workers.

Great post from a guy who missed out on my Oregon to win the NC ticket.

Miss going to the Casinos, do we?
I've been doing pretty well. The drop was caused by a drug that didn't pass phase 3 trials.

Gambling is based on chance. You can do due diligence and actually come away with a pretty good idea of if it's a good time to buy in, when to sell, etc in stonks. Patterns are pretty plane, sell the rise before earnings for some tendies. Stonks are more sports betting, less gambling at casinos. The canyon is only a $300 loss or so. Just looks bad with no axis labels lol.

I have never been to a casino outside of 1 Vegas trip. A pharmacy conference was held there.

You shouldn't feel wounded - you should feel honored that I know you that well ;)

For you and @Beef Invictus - when you press a claim, this guide is telling me to tap on the diplomacy tab in the county screen. I can't find it for the life of me.

Ummmmmm try right clicking on the guy you want to press? I can't quite remember. What country are you?

@Asnito

Whatever you did worked...I got a bogus excuse

Hello, USPS has been having to deal with a much larger volume of packages lately due to the virus so they’ve been having a lot more scanning and delay issues especially in our area but it was sent out and should be delivered, it just might take a few extra days or an extra week until they can manage to catch up to the increase. We ask for your patience during these times as it will almost certainly be delivered
