Carater is clearly the one we should have prioritized, saying "we'll see" to him while bringing back those other two rectal blockages really bothers me.

I mean would it shock me if someone give Carter a bat**** crazy offer? Not really, considering what Tanner Glass went for.

And then use a regular buyout next year on him. :sarcasm:

He really is the only one that should have been brought back. Far and away the best of the 4th line and someone that's actually productive and contributes.

I'll bet Lou looked into B. Pouliot, but after seeing what he was paid (absolutely stupid $$$) so he settled for Poulliot 2.0 (Bernier)

Knowing DeBoer we might be dressing five lines and Salvador, Greene, and Harrold at defense, just so he can find a way to play CBGB and sit Larsson and Gelinas.

I just wish we didnt re-sign Bernier and Gionta, I would've gladly given Carter what Bernier and Gionta made combined and called it a day.

Just sign him already, can't let both Fayne and Carter walk

It's possible he just holds on while Lou attempts to make room by dealing someone, but even then I'd be surprised. There's too many forwards as it is. It's probably easier for them to just let him walk and find a better opportunity.

If he walks, I pray he doesn't walk across the river.....

Instead, I pray he gives Sykora a call and has him drive that bus to a Western Conference team. :sarcasm:

The fact that he hasn't signed anywhere yet makes me think he wants to come back but there's just no room right now. Unless there's just no interest in him from other teams.

I think it's a little of both. he probably has 3 or 4 offers for 1m/year, including Lou's, but is waiting for us to clear space...it's nice of him to stick around so far

Why in the world would we resign Bernier before Carter..? Wasn't Bernier like a minus 30 last year lol

He signed for 600k and has to earn the 4th line position. I rather Bernier on the team vs a goon. I like Carter, but if he is asking for more than 4th line money I would let him walk.

I don't know, I don't see how that's the scenario. I think Carter may just be mulling over some other options. Lou is no idiot, I'm sure he would have rather sign Carter first.

The only way I see that scenario being possible, is if Carter took longer than the others to make his decision, and he made his decision to come back to the Devils after there became a log jam at forward. So he waits.

The trade could take some time though. Lou is going to use this time to get the best trade available as he should. I'm sure teams are interested in Ryder or Brunner. If Carter is waiting for that, he could be waiting till September. Its a bit of a risk doing that.

I actually think Lou would sign Carter right now. I don't buy the waiting scenario.

Carter was a minimum salary player on waivers a few years ago. He fit perfectly in DeBoer's system and has shown he can be a valuable player. This is probably his one chance to cash in for a contract around $1M/year with some real term to it. I believe this is the holdup.
