Red Velvet cutting a promo on Britt Baker and talking exactly like BB does…

Max Castor’s latest rap about Julia Hart…

I would expect that whoever approved Castor's promo is probably on the way out the door. That was pretty much a gross promo. I get it, bad guys need heat. But there's the right kind of heat, and then there's the wrong kind of heat. that promo made AEW look really stupid.

Eh AEW (and WWE, and pretty much every other wrestling promotion) could use actual heel heat. I wouldn't be surprised if you're right that someone gets in some sort of trouble though. I liked it as a short heel promo befitting their gimmick.

My thought was they (The Acclaimed) must have run by that Julia Hart at least. Definitely befits their gimmick and they're getting heel heat for sure. That said I'd be surprised if we saw something like that again.

EDIT: I had to look up the Duke Lacrosse reference. Anyway, it's been edited out and re-uploaded.

I was definitely more surprised by the Duke lacrosse reference than by the 1999 era insult lobbed at Hart. Both because of its more serious nature and also because it's such a dated reference. Without looking it up I'm thinking that's 14 or 15 years old.

I was just ignorant of the Duke reference, but looking it up I find it shocking he made it. The Biles reference... The Duke reference and the Hart reference definitely cross a line, but if Julia Hart approved it then I don't have problem with the latter. It's their gimmick and like I said they've got heat, but Castor needs to be careful because he could find himself quickly out of a job.

Going after Simone Biles and mental health, especially now that she admitted her aunt died during the Olympics, should be reason enough to get fired. If she retweet's the clip, AEW's going to be in trouble.

I don't see anything wrong with the Julia (Julie?) Hart line if she was okay with it.

It puts her in a bad position either way, if he did run it by her she could feel like if she doesn't ok it then there could be issues with the rest of the wrestlers

And why would anyone think he ran it by her when he didn't run the rest of it by anyone else?

I don't know if he did or didn't. That would be my minimum expectation, though I wouldn't have done it myself. Anyway, the clear difference is that she is likely very accessible to him whereas say Simone Biles probably isn't someone he can just ask.

EDIT: I'd also add it's not the first unflattering thing he's said her way, so I'm assuming if it was a big issue it'd have been addressed.

Malakai Black's music rules so hard
If THIS was the gimmick he was pitching for himself with WWE then they are dumber than i thought. This is exactly what he needs to be. It’s so perfect

Ruby Riott is apparently on her way to AEW using the name Ruby Soho.

from wrestlinginc.com:

Former WWE Superstar Ruby Riott is reportedly headed to AEW.

As we’ve noted, Riott recently revealed that she will be using the “Ruby Soho” ring name in her post-WWE career. Fightful Select reports that current plans have Ruby joining AEW soon.

Ruby was released from her WWE contract back on June 2, along with other budget cuts. She will become a free agent once her 90-day non-compete clause expires on Tuesday, August 31, which is right before the AEW All Out pay-per-view on September 5.

Ruby has kept a low profile since being released from WWE, doing few interviews and not making any personal appearances. One promoter noted that they reached out to her as far back as one month ago, and Ruby wasn’t taking bookings.

It was also noted that wrestlers across various pro wrestling companies have had unanimously glowing reviews of Ruby’s work, backstage demeanor, and attitude.

There is no word yet on when Ruby might make her AEW debut, but we will keep you updated.

For those who missed it, Ruby recently revealed her new look in an Instagram photo, which you can see below:

Good on AEW for editing it out but you know what, good on The Acclaimed for going after real heat

I didn't mind it. That's the gimmick. It's no different than stand up comedians. The whole point is to aim for discomfort and cross the line a bit.

...

They never did enough with her. Another name on the ever bloated list of wasted talents.

It's very cliche to say it at this point cuz it's happened a thousand times, but she will do very will in AEW. Their women's division is Baker...and everybody else.

All Out is in 31 days but have AEW even made mention of it on TV? I guess it's supposed to be their WrestleMania.

I wished they would number the All Out events like WrestleMania used to.

I wished they would number the All Out events like WrestleMania used to.

They have not even started building to it yet. Well, they are clearly building to Jericho vs MJF and it is to me the only match I am 100% sure will happen.

A few hints here and there, but that's it.

Like Christian was named #1 contender yesterday. He was not implicated in the Hardy group vs Best Friends match. He was not shown with Jungle Boy. He mentioned the Elite in his promo. And, well. they basically pivoted Hangman's story back to his relationship with the Dark Order and his inability to trust people that are being genuine friends to him. So, I guess Kenny and Christian will wrestle at All Out. I love Christian, but it is basically a throw-away match because they are getting Punk and Danielson soon. Do not want to overshadow Hangman's coronation.

The PPV is in Chicago and they have a Rampage there on the 20th. People expect CM Punk's debut on Rampage. Darby Allin hinted at Punk. Allin is on Punk's list of people he wants to face. Punk and Allin will probably main event at All Out.

Black's program with Cody will certainly continue until All Out. I guess that is where they will blow it off. I thought yesterday was the blow off... but there was the whole angle afterwards.

Britt Baker is facing Red Velvet in Pittsburgh, I guess we will get her PPV opponent soon enough.

The Bucks are feuding with Page and the DO, but if Page's story is postponed, I have no idea what they will do at All Out. Maybe a DO match. Maybe a throw-away against whomever is #1 contender... as the two most interesting teams will likely be fighting each other.

Miro is eating people every week. I guess he will get a showcase match at the PPV. Against who? No idea.

Then, what does Moxley do? Maybe him and Eddie get the Bucks... but TBH, they should not be losing to them AGAIN and the way the story is shaping up, DO will take the belts from the Bucks. Probably is in the Battle Royale.

So card shapes up to be

Main-event: Punk vs Darby
Kenny Omega vs Christian Cage - World Title
Young Bucks vs contender - Tag team title
Britt Baker vs contender - Women's title
Miro vs contender - TNT Title
MJF vs Jericho
Black vs Cody
Santana/Ortiz vs FTR
Casino Battle Royale (is this where you debut Bryan Danielson or do you wait until New York? I'd debut him there, give him the win and have him face Omega at Arthur Ashe. That will pop a huge rating)

I mean, it is a pretty loaded card. All the non-title matches are big feuds OR an attraction. The title matches are all undetermined at this moment and most of them will likely be throw-aways which sucks considering it is their biggest show. But I am fine considering the main event will be Punk's return and that is enough of an attraction. Kenny vs Christian will be a good match and Christian can deliver on the build. I do not really care who Miro faces. Britt and the Bucks need good challengers though.

Does anyone know if Rampage will be on TV in Canada? It's not listed on my on-screen guide for the 13th, and it looks like most of TSN's channels are committed to CFL football on Friday nights. I hope they can fit it in somewhere, even if it means not airing it live.
