I would never hope for my team to lose.

But I will tell you what I told @DKH

If you truly want the Bruins to have playoff success, then the worst thing that could happen is they beat the Caps tonight and Leafs Saturday.

Might just give them a false sense of where they are really at.

Toronto took us to 7 games last year while Matthews had 2 points. They added Tavares this year
Tampa bay smoked us last year and they are even better this year.
We're 0 for 4 years against the defending champs

We didn't add to our team, they should already know where their team is at. If a couple January wins sway that analysis then that's worrisome.

The kid line will be playing in St Louis

You're probably kidding, but that's a lot for one player. Maybe if Backes is also included and St. Louis adds another piece it may make sense, but yikes, that's a lot.

Yep.

Tavares is "only" 1 player but it was a massive match up add for Toronto, last year you had to worry about 2 lines with Toronto, and the top line disappointed, now it's 3 lines while Rielly is having a career year.

Tavares, Marner, Marleau, Nylander, Kadri midd6 vs Krejci, DeBrusk?

The midd6 needs a quality addition for match up in the East.

You’re always going to be missing D in the playoffs. It’s the nature of the playoffs and why GM’s try to get 8 deep at the deadline.

It’s also one of the reasons I really hate the idea of losing Grzelcyk.

small undersized Dmen easily bodied off plays was a big part of losing to the lightning. Thats why we missed Carlo so much, and I believe the general idea behind signing Moore, size and mobility. Even if they don't play a rough and tumble game, size and mobility was missing against tampa.

No, scoring was.

They couldn't score because half the key contributors were playing after just coming back from concussions.

We really, really, really shouldn't fall in to the same trap that the Nonis-era Leafs did.

I’m sure Carolina would drive Hamilton to Boston for Grzelcyk

Would Krug return a top 6 winger? I don’t think the PP would be significantly worse without him, just significantly different. Maybe a guy like Grzelcyk doesn’t play with the puck as much as Krug would but I’d like someone that just gets Pastrnak the puck for one timers anyway.

I would like Carlo to have a look on PP. I know it might sound crazy considering his total point production however he is a better skater than Krug, has a better reach than Krug, can defend odd man rushes better than Krug. Carlo's shot is not on Krug's level yet in terms of accuracy. That said from what I saw last night Krug on PP is not what he used to be.

I prefer Grzelcyk but Carlo might work. It isn’t rocket science, keep the puck on the forwards sticks. I’ll miss the dazzling play Krug makes once every 8-10 games, but man does the top 6 need help.

Yes even though we were missing Carlo and later on Krug we were still unable to sustain scoring threats enough to compete with Tampa. And even though we took out Toronto in seven we barely did THAT. With no additions up front we may still squeak by Toronto but Tampa will still take us out and if by some chance Tampa got taken out of our path and we have the "luck" to play Washington they will eat us up in four easy games. I keep reading that the B's were so great last night but truth is the Caps probably only half heartedly put out an effort, just enough to win. If the Caps really wanted to IMO they would've dumped 3 more goals past Halak (or Rask, take your pick) and the outcome would've been embarrassing.
While we have muscle on D with Chara and Miller, up front we're nowhere near physical enough for a long playoff run. Miller is always one hit or freak accident away from missing 10-20 games and Chara, although still formidable is playing on 40 year old stilts. We need men up front who can punish the opposing D the way the Bruins D gets punished!

I wonder if that's the reason that they've been playing Pasta on the point? An experiment to see if he can do what Krug does if Krug is traded?

Ehhh, Carlo doesn't really have an ounce of good offensive instincts.

I doubt it, I think Krug just likes rotating to the halfwall so Pastrnak has no choice but to cover the point.

Earlier in the year when Krug was out I really liked how Grzelcyk played on the powerplay. His goal was to get the puck to one of the forwards as quickly as possible and for the most part it worked. They also have Mcavoy who should be getting some powerplay time.

I'm very sorry that Rick Nash is having to retire. He seems like a really good guy in addition to being a special player. It's a shame. I'm grateful though that he announced it so that Don Sweeney can move along and realize that Nash coming back and playing at anything near his past self is fantasy at this point. Now trader Donnie can go out and have a clear conscience in making a deal and not be worrying that Nash will come knocking for a job.
