I think Vegas is expecting anyone who wants to trade for Gusev has to take a big contract off their hands at the same time.

You can probably get 2 really good players for a reasonable price maybe Stasny or Smith. But who do we throw into a deal like that they want.
also, McPhee is a shit GM, gets the benefit of pretty wild expansion draft rules then sinks the team into cap trouble before its 3rd season

Yeah, I had suggested on July 2 in this thread that Boston should ask about Gusev. He’s a right-shot winger (although, like Panarin, he might be a LW). Still, with his skill set, I don’t see why he couldn’t be just as effective as a RW.
He does attack from his offwing in a lot of those highlights, but if there’s a chance he could be a 50-60 point winger in the NHL, Sweeney should make the move. They said they’re looking for a RW for Krejci, here you go.

Isn't he primarily a left-wing.
I don’t know what he plays, but he does seem to attack from the left side... With that said, if you have a chance to add Panarin for futures and $4M AAV, you’d do it. I’m not saying he’ll be on Panarin’s level, but it’s worth going after imo.

Zboril, sure. But probably not at the cost of bring on Backes. They have plenty of cap space, but Melnyk doesn't want to spend the cash. While Backes is cheap this year (cash) he is owed $3M+ next season.
I would think though Backes even at what he will be paid the fact he is still a $6M cap hit , that helps Ottawa stay at the cap floor without actually paying that amount in real dollars, which would appeal to Melnyk.

Risk? Well worth it. If he bolts back to Russia then he and Team X will have to mutually agree to terminate his contract because of the NHL/KHL understanding on signing players already under contract. And the cap hit magically (ok not really magically) disappears.

So, is it really a risk?

Not eligible for bonuses, and there are teams willing to pay it.

I say bring him on!! They can make the cap work at $4 million and still sign Carlo and McAvoy.
Dom what do you think the B's would have to give up for Gusev? I am ok with certain prospects, JFK, Frederic, Zboril maybe Senyshen, but don't want our top prospects or top picks(1st and 2nd rounders) involved. I am also fine giving up a roster player like Miller, Moore, Nordstrom, Lindholm , even Heinen if it came down to that.

I laughed so hard.

I kept asking the screen "Is noone allow to hit him?"
Cause 2019 playoff Brayden Schenn would have removed several limbs from this poor guy within the first 2 minutes.

This play footage video is like a Hong-Kong Kung-Fu movie: Protagonist ruins 20 guys with a single punch each. While somehow having him surrounded they never touch him once.

You get the crap literally knocked out of you if you try that stuff in the NHL. Datsyuk had enough brains to know when to do it and only when the nearest players were out of position or off balance so they could not take his head clean off.

Get it done Sweeney. We have 9 NHL dman somethings got to give. Would love for them to take a shot on Gusev. If they take a 2nd pick and B prospect.

Well highlights generally don’t show the highlighted player getting laid out.

You could say the same things watching this highlight video of Panarin in the KHL, but it doesn’t paint the whole picture.

Same with Kucherov. These videos show their talent, not whether or not their game will translate to the NHL.

You can’t judge a player resiliency on a highlight video.
