Green to Anaheim for Lovejoy + 1st

And then

Ducks 1st, Caps 1st and Brouwer for David Backes :handclap:

Ana's 1st is going to be a really late one, so Ducks shouldn't be to hesistant to give it up. Boudreau knows what Green can bring and would slot right in next to Fowler and into BB's system.

Backes isn't having a great season offensively, and Lethera/Berglund could offset the loss of him. Brouwer seems like a Hitch kind of player.

that is what the Caps need. they can afford the assets to buy one good top 6 forward because they need offense. so they buy a guy who is struggling offensively.

perfect

That's how you get them cheap :sarcasm: (and struggling to his standards)

Are you doubting Backes capabilities? You don't like the trades? Isn't he a fit?

do you see backes replacing the offense lost when brouwer leaves?

Yes! They have the same amount of points, even though he's struggling. He would also allow Kuznetsov to play his natural wing. And give them more faceoff-wins = more posession = more scoring chances

getting them cheap because they are struggling often doesn't turn out to be a bargain when they continue to struggle. what the caps need is a player with confidence to jump in and start pulling. not a project.

why is st Louis trading him?

and...if backes who has 18 points replaces brouwer's 18 points where is the improvement?

Project? Wow, that's what worries you?

He might be struggling because his linemates aren't firing on all cylinders? Oshie's been bad.. And inured. Steen is down .30 ppg, Oshie is down .20 ppg from last season. That will definitely affect his points as well.

If he can be a shutdown 2C at his current pace, then there's your improvement! If he returns to his normal point standard, then it's a great, great deal.

They might trade him because of their depth at C? They save 1M in cap space? To get two extra 1st rounders in a deep draft?

Do the Caps need a shutdown 2c? Does St Louis trade their captain before the playoffs?
He is the C there, isn't he?

FYI, Chimera still has another year on his current deal before UFA. If he's gone, it'll have to be via trade. He also has a limited NTC.

Stupid McDumbass handing out no trade clauses left and right.

I think you may have confused McPhee with Mike Gillis. Eight guys (one signed by MacLellan) with some form of NTC really isn't bad for a team trying to compete, especially considering none of them are complete NMCs or full NTCs (even Ovechkin can only supply 10 teams he won't be traded to). The Bruins, Penguins, Canucks, and Stars each have 10. The Blackhawks have 11.

What do you think guys about Atkinson? Jackets fans are saying he'll be likely moved at TD. Now he's struggling a bit, but otherwise he's young, shifty 20 goal scorer, and future 30 goal scorer.

Tex are you really fretting over losing Troy Brouwer in a wet dream David Backes deal?

no. david backes isn't available. but I am not a brouwer hater either. I am saying that the Caps need to add scoring not change it. They need to add a top 6 offensive producer rather than exchange one. Lastly, I was challenging the idea that if you buy low a struggling player because he is struggling, you might be buying a struggling player who continues to struggle. I'd rather trade for a player doing well.

St Louis isn't going to trade their Captain unless they collapse and even then Backes is under contract for a good while.

He's an rfa. If they really wanted to trade him, they could get more for him in the offseason.
