Really nothing separating these two teams, other than goaltending and the PP. The PP basically killed the Canucks in this series. When the other team takes liberties out there with your best players, you have to make them pay with the odd-man.
A key lost faceoff on a bad icing call cost them the tying goal....and then three guys chasing the puck behind the net and leaving the slot wide open for the winner.
Colliton has pushed lot of the right buttons in this series, but gets a bit of the goat-horns for gong back to Martin in the crease after alternating goalies all season long.
Silovs was voted the Abbotsford Canucks MVP for the season....so unless there was an injury we weren't aware of he should have stated. Nothing against Martin who didn't play badly; but was clearly the second-best goalie on the ice in every game.
Canucks really missed Raty and Stevens down the middle.....they basically had only one line going all night.
As far as individuals, looks like the Canuck might have something in Sasson, who plays the game with pace; and Johansson wasn't bad, but looks like he might need at least a year in Abbotsford to adjust to the smaller rink. Hoglander was simply the best player on the ice for either team. And Bains played in just about every situation for the Baby Canucks.
All in all though, a great year for the Canucks AHL affiliate. Just about every player 23 and under improved dramatically. And really that's all you're looking for out of your AHL farm team.
And those fans in Abbotsford. Yikes! They're loud and proud and have really adopted this team.
