That's the other problem I'm guessing the owners want to go back to the internal cap(whatever that # may be) so they may look for a futures package and start trimming the money down.

Yup, sounds like we are going back to budget :( Meaning Drouin will certainly not be a Duck.

This actually was talked about before during the Drouin holdout in 2016 as a trade to be done during the 2016 offseason. Now, however, I'm not sure if it makes sense for Tampa Bay anymore. Starting point, but need more to pry Drouin from TB.

Oh well. I had hoped this would throw the Ducks off from dumping Vats on the Leafs.

Maybe Plan B is to go back to the JVR stratagem.

I wouldn't care to lose Kapanen or Brown + 17OA, and expose Carrick to boot.

Would Tampa have any other interesting offers that might keep the Ducks busy?

unless "JVR strategem" is "a different player wearing JVR's number as he gets off the plane", that's probably dead in the water...
