Babcock is and always has been a better tier coach than Tippett. People may not like him but he's always been an A-tier coach.

Tippett only got hired because there weren't many other great veteran coaching options that summer, if Babcock was actually available then, he would have been hired for sure.

But the Oilers are too gutless to fire a coach when the team has a good enough record, they won't do what Pittsburgh did with Therrein even though they should.

Babcock is and always was a horrible coach who sat behind all star teams. The guy is a bad coach and worse human being. Treating your players like shit might have worked in the 90s, but players today aren't window lickers anymore.

Don't like to see a guy get hurt, but the way Keith was playing, it's probably a good thing he was out of the lineup after he got hurt. The guy is just bleeding chances against the last few weeks.

I’m not saying it isn’t Tippet and I’m not saying it is. But these problems date way further back than Tippet and KH. These seem to be inherent to the oilers for a long long time. If we could back all the way to the 07 season we would see the same thing it’s really puzzling to be honest.

I agree about the slow starts and that we've had a bit of history with those for sure.
Tippett's approach emphasizes slow starts by focusing on caution and "playing the right way" to begin games. This defensive attitude always puts the team on its heels at the start of the games. By the time the team needs to open up, the opposition has forced their game plan down our throats.
Compare The Oilers starts to games to that of Carolina...to TB...the Jets...the Avs. Those teams come out aggressively and drive the game and put teams in a position of having to react to the game for at least a period. By then, their opposition is basically in a hold- the- fort mode which makes them beatable.

Until our opening mantra becomes, "win the races and beat the checks" instead of "hold your lanes and keep your position", we'll be seeing a lot more slow starts.

We absolutely blew yesterday.

Refs were awful as well (blatant non-calls for any infraction on us, and then pity/pretend calls that literally give us no PP time at all) which sucks.
But we weren't going to win anyways. Suffocating hockey combined with no accountability on penalties.
Our PK has not been that porous in ages. Defense doing nothing on two guys alone in front on the first, forwards bunched up to close allowing cross ice passes with ease.

We literally don't have our top 3 LHD.... gonna be a struggle. Tippett needs to step up here, we cannot afford any games where we don't play 60 minutes.
Our pk personnel has a problem in these games. We had Nuge, Yama, Ryan doing mop up. Ryan can't survive GA even in 5on 5 play and is aged and awful now. Yama is playing pk against a PP that outweighs him by an average 55lbs. Hows that going to work. Size missmatches don't get worse than this. We were missing Nurse and Keith. We had the worst lineup out there to play Dallas on the pk, and it cost us in spades. Basically if Drai isn't on the ice in a big boy game like that look out for trouble. Dallas were able to setup any play they wanted on the PP and retrieve any pucks on the boards. The ice was completely tilted on those PP's. They generated 3 of their goals off the PP's. That was game, set match right there.

As bad as people think we were the score was basically 1-1 in EV time. (Dallas scored one goal 6seconds after PP but predicated on it) Dallas had 5 PP's before we had one. All the highsticks in Oilers faces got somehow missed. Drai gets a penalty for a crosscheck right after getting two handed. heres the leading scorer in the NHL and not getting a call in surreal NHL. It isn't just McDavid. The officials were intent on jobbing us from the start. We were playing against Dallas and officiating and this realized by first intermission.

Dallas is last in the league in 5v5 scoring. They aren't a good hockey team anymore. They're old and slow.

They didn't play "big boy hockey". They played dead puck Era hockey and simply didn't get called for it. Draisaitl's 2 penalties were absolute garbage calls.

No doubt. Been watching this rigged shit for way tooo many years in this league. Betman has already started memorizing his speech for their CHOSEN cup winner come spring time, bank on it!

He is but values shot quality over shot generation. He talks about that nearly every post game.

Possession numbers don’t have to be good to mean that’s the system they are playing. It means the execution is lacking, which is what I said.

He talks about it- but usually has no clue what he is talking about. Your right- shot quality does not equal shot generation- but the Oilers don’t generate a whole lot of high danger chances. In fact, they are at the bottom of the league in dangerous chances against vs for

As much as this game sucked, Dallas is up 3-0 on Colorado who is considered to be a contender :dunno:
