Probably because he's done nothing to earn it? Just because he's a nice kid doesn't mean he is owed anything. He's a below average, fringe NHLer, and this is how those types of players are treated (except Kunitz).

I don't have a hard on for Bennett like many on here do, but come on. He's not a fringe NHLer, not by far. His main usefulness for the Pens is his age and therefore caphit and they're not maximising it.
