To the mods here, Hello! Just a Devils fan visiting (and thanking your Bolts for winning).

Now that said :

Ok.... you provoke a guy with a gun, he shoots you, you end up dead and he ends up in jail. No ones a winner pal, put your ego aside and your saftey first.

You talk like poor decisions don't lead to unwanted outcomes.

So what Poor Decision did the victim make?

Deciding to wear his team's jersey?

Deciding to talk trash because he earned the right to talk trash since his team...you know...WON?

How dare he! :squint:

And btw, a fan that ISN'T a Neanderthal would've turned around and gave him the Finger or just told him to STFU (or both).

This wasn't a case of Self-Defense.

This wasn't even a Stand-Your-Ground thing.

This was a "Rags Fan being a pathetic sore-loser" thing.

"Oh the humanity", right? :squint:

Been to many away games, your team wins then you've already got the satisfaction don't need to rub it in like you're on the internet. Things won't happen to you most of the time if you're just minding your own business. Why would I risk my safety getting into an argument with someone on the way out? Especially walking alone.

I wouldn't advise anyone doing what your suggesting but sure.

Have you seen the vid at all?

He wasn't arguing with anyone.

The Bastard was walking several big steps in front of him (nowhere near him) and then just decided to turn around, walk up to him and do what he did to someone who was obviously not expecting it, which also shows how much of a coward that bastard was, too.

The article literally says they got into an argument... still a coward move but the likelihood of it happening increases when you engage back.

According to the New York Police Department. Officers say a witness told them two men got into an argument, which then escalated with the Rangers fan, who police identified as 29-year-old James Anastasio, punching the Lightning fan in the face.

I hope you mean that, but in your post you said "if the Rags fan harassed him during the entire game, he deserved a punch way before the end of the game." I've been in a few scraps in my life, most of which I regret, but no matter how passionate my fandom, it has never occurred to me to cold cock someone, or get into fisticuffs in any way over someone else's obnoxiousness in the context of a sporting event.
Imagine what happens with soccer in Italy...I'm familiar with these situations, unfortunately.
In a country like yours, where watching a sport event is something to be remembered for read, these things are unacceptable.
I do not like the harrassment either. I do not care if it was the Bolts fan who harrassed the Rags one or it was the opposite. If it was the Rags fan that started all this thing during the game, he deserved to be kicked out immediately from the game by the security guards.
But you know, we're talking about it but we do not really know what happened. We have only seen that short video. And about that, I hope he'll end up in jail for a long time.

Really? That's weird.

The vid doesn't show any communication aside from the Bolts fan talking and the Rags fan walking (which he should've done instead of being a sore loser).

Officers say a witness told them two men got into an argument

Ah. So the witness told them.

So he must've seen them arguing before he shot the video, I assume.

I mean it would be pretty bad if the witness was lying about there being an argument....

It's in the arrest article.

Where did I say that? Or are you feeling like sucker punching someone tough guy?

I mean I would presume that's why the phone was out just before the assault, If it was out of the blue why would someone already be recording?

Again, you are trying to find some way around the fact that it does not matter at all what was said at any point. If the assaulter had at least challenged him and said let's go outside and settle this, he would still be a complete moron, but at least he would have given the victim the chance to decide if he wanted to be equally moronic. The assaulter didn't do that, he punched a completely unsuspecting person in the face as hard as he could and in that respect we know exactly what happened.

It was 2015. It was game 6 vs NYR The Lightning mostly kept pace until finally the 3rd period broke our back and we lost 7-3. And the amount of shit you heard the Ranger fans yelling in the concourses is unlike anything I ever heard. "Let's go Rangers!" got a good run. Damn near deafening. Even had a fat boii with a neck beard and a Whalers hat who must've been the first person out of the building chirping everyone walking by with "Go home! You're done! Too bad Tampa! Have fun losing game 7" etc. I won't forget leaving game 6 of the 2008 ALCS and Red Sox fans yucking it up the whole way out the door too. Amazingly no one was assaulted. It's almost like it's understood losing home team fana at sporting events are gonna hear some shit out the door no differently than an away fan whose team lost.

That said I'm glad the guy who was punched is okay. Angry boii can enjoy all his Ranger games from the couch for the rest of his life after whatever penalties await him

That short video is enough to say that the guy in question shoulf end up in jail for a long time, like I wrote exactly one line after.
Their history maybe during the game, could help to understand if the security inside the most famous arena in the world needs to be better or not.

I understand what Sky04 is trying to say. And I think most of you do too.

Everything that dude did was unacceptable and he deserves to go to jail. Also, the Lightning dude doesn't DESERVE to be assaulted like that.

However, everyone here knows that if your son was going to that game that you would advise him to be careful drawing attention to yourself because fans at sports games can be idiots and you don't want him to get hurt.

Thats the point. This seems like common knowledge. Both can be true - esspecially if the Lightning dude was arguing.

I sure am proud of these guys. What a great representation of our city. There just really is no quit in them.

Sergy has been struggling, but I've been easy on him because it is never a lack of effort. I can't pick out a single one of these guys that wouldn't sacrifice for the greater good of the team. Even Hagel seems to have accepted his role.

Regardless of what happens, what a run it has been and someday we'll all realize that we took it for granted a little bit!
