Not mad at the loss. I enjoyed the fight the rest of the game after getting ran over in the first. Team needs to play with more aggression consistently. I'm glad they stuck up for eachother and fought back to make it a chance to tie and win the game.

Again....Tampa outscored us 4-0 5vs5.

We were lucky that their PP is sputtering.
The game plan from the start should have been to get it into a phone booth and play special teams hockey. That gave us the best shot. Our PP, our PK. That’s on AV.

Some thoughts:

TB is the ultimate, "grow your own" team.
Kucherov #58-2011, so-so at 20, star at 21
Stamkos #1-2008
Point #79-2014
Killhorn #77-2007
Cerelli #72-2017
Palat #208-2011
T Johnson UDFA - started at 23
Guorde UDFA - started at 26
Paquette #101-2012
Verhaeghe #82-2013
Joseph #120-2015
Maroon the only one of their forwards not homegrown

Hedman #2-2009
Sergachev - trade for Drouin
Shattenkirk - FA 2019
McDonagh - trade for Namestnikov, Howden, 2018 1st
Cernak #43-2015
Rutta -trade
Coburn - trade

I didn't think TB was especially fast, rather, they may be the quickest team in the league.
It's not that they constantly win foot races, rather, crisp passing and great acceleration gets players open quickly before the defense can react.
They also seemed to focus on setting up wrist shots within 20' of the net.

Flyers have played them pretty tight this year, but the talent gap is both obvious and closing.
It was a good gauge of how far the Flyers have come, and how far they have to go.
Until Hart takes it up another notch, they're not a top 8 team, but he's not that far away.
And they need Farabee (who looked good with room to skate) and Frost to grow up, Brink to fill out and add a stride and hopefully one of the college forwards to step up (Laczynski, Allison, Cates), If JOB develops (speed kills) even better.

It’s almost more that they are quicker to opposing attacks when on defense. That seems the main application of their “speed”. They get on u quick — whatever zone

One point shot. Is that good?

Dump/chases & point shots. A hockey man’s wet dream.

What else did you want them to do? Tampa is a 5 v 5 wet dream.

Should have spared some expenses.

Seems like getting that monster player later in the first to the third is pretty key.

Just watched 3rd period, Couts 2 breakaways and the Farabee TK 2 on 0 and we got zero quality quality chances, that was the difference.

Hart letting in 2 stinkers didn’t help either , we should of had a point

Vasi was in their heads the entire time. The best play against him his along the ice. Couts tried at least.

How many times have we fallen into a multi-goal deficit in the 1st?

It’s gotta be in the double digits. Kind of tired of it.

Our goalies aren’t good enough to overcome the 1st period sleepwalk.

Fun game to watch after the first, even better if they won. Several missed chances, several missed shots, Vassey was on, Provy was inches away from a hat trick tonight.

I watched the game on my phone on the NHL.com app. It was a free game and had the Flyers call thankfully
if the Flyers play the first period the way they played the 2nd and 3rd they win that game. Not going to beat playoff caliber teams with not starting on time very often
