Except Ghost does not have particularly strong possession numbers given his usage. MDZ, Gudas and Medvedev are all significantly ahead of him in that regard. Check out his CF with Schultz from the Devils game if you think playing with Ghost guarantees a lot of shot attempts.

Of course, he's miles ahead of every other dman in scoring points.

Interesting you say this, because according to War On Ice, Ghost had the better possession numbers tonight.

So, like I said. MacD can thank Ghost. Especially since MacD's attempts to carry or pass the puck to the neutral zone are consistently failures.

Wait... so you're saying that macdonald didn't have a strong game? A part of the superior opinions club here stated it was true and backed it up with baseless advanced stats so I just assumed it was true. I guess if I watched the game I would of been able to see it myself. Oh wait.

He had 2 more CF and one less CA in two more ES minutes. That's a very small difference in a sample size of a single game.

For the season, the vast majority of which MacDonald didn't play in, Ghost has possession numbers that are just OK. If the new narrative is that MacDonald can only have good possession numbers because of Ghost, you'll have to first explain why Manning-Ghost is only a 46 CF% pairing and MDZ-Ghost are only a 48% pairing despite both pairings getting easy zone starts.

I forgot your thought is the only rational one. Anyone who disagrees with you is ignorant. All hail striiker and his impeccable opinions!!

I'm wrong at times just like everyone else, and I have no problem admitting that when I am, but this isn't one of those times.

This isn't even debatable, you're just saying something so absurd that it's surprising that you'd even try to defend it.

They lose shootouts becusse they don't try to win them? One of the dumbest things I've read in here and I'm sure many would agree.

They try. They suck. End of story.

You're the only one who has raised an issue about my post. I haven't seen many people rush to agree with you considering it was "one of the dumbest things you've ever read." I'm no psychologist and I don't try to diagnose people via computer screen like a certain other person but you very well may want to look up megalomania.

How can you people just single out MacDonald for his suckage? Almost everyone on this team sucks. It's not his fault an idiot gave him 5 mil for a bazillion years.

Also, and I say this after every OT/SO, I hate loser points so much.

As far as lack of effort in the shootouts.. If that's the best shot Vorecek could muster up then he needs to do some wrist curls or some hand grip exercises. Puck maybe went faster than 45mph

I'm going to blame Hak a little.

Shoot out choices need to be a combo of skill and game play. G had an awful game, send someone else out in the shoot out. Cousins had a really good game, it showed. Jake was invisible all game but took a shoot out and stunk.

I would have went:
Cousins
Ghost
Read

I believe in hot hands and who's having a good game leads to more quality

AMac wasn't good, but he wasn't necessarly bad. He wasn't the reason we lost anyhow. Schultz trying to block the pass was just bad puck luck, yet he has been pretry bad in general... The top 6 just didn't really show up much tonight besides Cousin that brought alot of energy. I also thought Raffl goal or not showed up to play.

Teams are starting to figure out the concept of double teaming G on the PP setup which then causes them to clear the zone. The PP could use some small changing if it keeps up. Voracek always has so much ice space and NEVER seems to take advantage and shoot the puck. If he does this, Giroux gets his space back. It seemed like a sloppy game by both teams. The next game is big decider for Hexy.

The shootout seems to be a bigger mental barrier than anything. Maybe why Cousins had success because he's new ? Regardless Neuvirth wanted that win and sad he didn't get it. After the Simmonds fail at 5-hole I think Vora should of went high glove side.

Probably. Can't deny that I'm heavily focusing on a few nasty plays.
It's ironic that the "advanced" statistics allow for the complete throwing away of the difference between qualitative and quantitative, and the common knowledge that informs those with actual brains that both are relevant.

Oh well. As long as we got somethin' new to use to prove our smartness over those who "just aren't bright enough to get it."

After the Simmonds fail at 5-hole I think Vora should of went high glove side.
I can just hear that smack off the glass in my nightmares.

It's the certainty of it that haunts me.

Nah.. some people just don't want to get in the middle of it I think.

They definitely try in the shootout.. but they suck. It's not an effort thing at all.

Let's not blame the shootout. The Flyers went up against a team that has lost 24 of 32 and are extremely ****ed in the head. The Habs are/were in a state of disarray. The Flyers should of came in and taken the game to them. This was one of the more borings game of the year.

Its the same story thats ever been told. Flyers play 40 minute hockey games. Change the coach, same result over and over.

To me creativity equals effort. When you use the same move over and over again when you know goalies watch tape on it, that qualifies as a low effort attempt. How is that unreasonable? That's not just "sucking" that comes off as being lazy and mailing it in.

this team never ceases to amaze me. they can step up and play very well against the good teams in the league, even in defeat.
they play a team that has been terrible for 2 months, have started to if not quit on their head coach and they have a locker room that is a mess and they get beat.
just a little urgency would be nice for once.

This is it. Not really worth bothering. To say they don't try is just silly.

Wow Cousins looks good... great to see, at least something. Was Giroux really that bad?

The whole team, Giroux included, just looked sluggish transitioning through the NZ.

They had a lot of strange backward passes and I can't help but feel that it had something to do with V and Schenn swapping places.

Chalk me up to this as well.

To say they don't try in SO is just dumb.

Reality is, we lack natural goal scorers AND guys with creativity.

Giroux...has creativity
Jake....passer who can't hit his spots on shots
Simmonds...net front banger
Schenn...not a bad shot
Couts....see Jake

These are our top 5 players. Only G has creativity, and not have natural goal scoring ability.

Then we drop down to guys like Raffl, Laughton, Umberger, Read, Gagner...and our 4th liners.

Seriously, it's not surprising we struggle in SO. We lack a ton of talent. Other teams have guys who tend to have a good shot, or have moves. We lack that.

Just watched the game, sloppy, just sloppy.

Cousins once again creating.

Need more from Shultz, Striet, Umberger.

I wish this team had that attitude - just TAKE the ****ing game. OWN the ****!
