Nice Klutch, Tripod. We should do an HFFlyers golf thing.

I'm not old enough to get into golf like you guys.

I wish I got into it when I was younger man. I just started 2 years ago, so when I was 25, it's probably the hardest yet most rewarding sport I've ever played.

I got lucky in high school. They decided to do construction on our Jr high so they decided to have Jr and Sr in the same school but at different times.(they did not was grade 7's there with grade 12's).

So because the Sr's had jobs, they decided that we would go to school 8-12 every day and the Jr's went 1-5. So because we were off at 12 everyday, we were able to hit the links everyday by 12:30-1 and get in 9 of 18 holes everyday Mon-Fri. And the course liked it because the kids were all coming during the slower time of day so the adults would have more openings after work at 5/6. Worked out quite well.

So playing 4-6 times a week I was able to get quite good, won club championship for my age group. But that was year, and years ago so I certainly don't get out like I used to.

And of course, having the "summer of toe" accident last year ended any hopes of getting out.

I started playing golf when I was 9 years old and I like to tell people "I was never better at golf than when I was 9 years old" I caddied in the US Open Qualifying Rounds in 1986 (we just missed the cut in the last round) and got a caddy scholarship to university - not because I was one of the top caddies in the country haha, but there is this thing called the Evans Scholarship that is only available to caddies. I lost it after a year and a half and had to finish on my own later

The really frustrating thing is that I can (or could, since I am really out of practice) help pretty much anyone with their golf game, but I could never help myself. For one thing, I can't stand outside myself and watch what I am doing wrong, but just as importantly, I can't manipulate myself and control my emotions like I could do with other people, so I would just get enraged and lose control  Also, I have a terrible snake phobia, so golf is basically a disaster for me.

Thanks! And a HF Flyers golf scramble would be pretty nice. I just realized I want to buy a flyers club head sock.

I have one for my 3 wood. It was hard to find up here in Canada so when I saw it, snatched it up!

That's awesome! I'll have to check in some of the sport memorabilia stores or online now

2 day Club Championship this weekend, got 4 holes in yest and rained so hard they closed course. Plan was to have a 1 day winner takes all today, and it is gorgeous out, woke up at 6 am, just about to jump in shower, get email course is still closed and the tourney is re scheduled.

That sucks. Work is going to drag this week for you now, esp if the tourny is rescheduled for this weekend.

I will not be golfing this week what so ever in the 95 degree weather.

Worse, rescheduled to when I am away for another annual tourney and this was the first club championship I was gonna play in.

You don't have to be old to like golf. I got my first club when I was 3 years old. :thumbu:

Haha I'm just teasing you guys. I've never really golfed but I've been to a driving range before and I was god awful because I treated the club as a hockey stick and just swung away like I was taking a slapshot.

I'm up north (well a few hours north of Toronto) for the weekend. Played a really nice course this morning for $58 taxes in. It's certainly nice to get away from the $80-$100 weekend prime time prices for higher end courses in the Toronto area.

I play about 35-40 times a year. Switched offices last year from Downtown Toronto so I now try to get out once a week after work.

I'm cracking up at Nintendo's fall in value after it's sky rocket the other week from Pokemon Go. How does no one realize they didn't own the game?

Absolutely!

I couldn't really watch golf and enjoy it until I worked at a golf course, but after that I can watch whenever. The major tournaments are easy views. The International competitions are great. Despite Tiger being on a massive downswing of his career, he's inspired many other young stars into the game that have made it very watchable.

Plus it's relaxing as all hell. Need a nice Saturday/Sunday nap? Throw on golf for the afternoon.

Hell, I spent hours watching a ProAm yesterday with Steph Curry, JT, Roenick, Modano, Mark Mulder and others dominating the spotlight.

I figured it could be relaxing..but then if you nap you aren't truly watching? I guess though I know what you mean..I used to watch that painter dude Bob Ross on PBS....he was great...calming. Great for people with high blood pressure...

Enjoy, jealous !!!!

Me too, especially the majors. Am a HUGE Phil fan and Tiger hater so was really into it when Tiger was at the top.

My goal is to see a major live, possibly US open next year in Wisconsin
