He's also Bones's husband. I wouldn't be surprised if he were on here somewhere - he's pretty diehard.
And a seal squad leader. Amazed he can fit in time to watch a game.

Yeah, it's far less likely we'd get Hughes if we finished last than winning the cup in the next 5 years. Gotcha...
well, who is going to score goals for hart in the playoffs then?
Giroux, Couturier, Frost, TK, Ghost, Sanheim, Myers, JVR, Patrick. You know. The other players on the team.
This is really a mystery to you? You needed to ask that? What, those people won't score goals if we don't have Hughes? How exactly are they managing to score now?

Don't bother. This dude has been very vocal that no current Flyer will ever help the team win, and the only to build a cup team is through trades
So i missed the game. How'd Hart play?

Effortless lateral movement and tracking. So the usual.
Didnt look terribly tested, though. I barely noticed Laine except for when he was on his butt in front of me. He fanned big time on a slot pp one timer, though Hart may have actually made the save anyway if he had connected.
Laine had 3 really good scoring chances on Hart
Only Pittsburgh is allowed a run of franchise players anyway. Yeah...it will be bittersweet if we miss out on a top 5 pick due to a run and still peter out thus securing us a middle round pick but again we have no control over this. The lottery the way that it is weighted now at least makes the situation a bit more palatable should we go on a run and still fall short.Tanking isnt about Hughes. Its about getting a young franchise talent. Might be Hughes.
Might be whomever was available in the top 5.
Cant ever have too many franchise players.
Hart is 20 and we already have him. No one advocating a tank is saying get rid of Hart to get Hughes/other top 5 guy.
The idea is you pair them together for 10-15 years after punting a year like this one where you have no chance anyway.
Goaltending is important and the Flyers have been cursed but you dont need a Hart quality goalie to win and win a lot.
Blackhawks had Niemi and Crawford and built a dynasty. Top line forwards are more impactful as are top pairing D.
You got people talking like goaltending is the main reason we dont have Cup in decades????
Have you forgotten the nepotism, the xenophobia, the backwardness, the inability to build a team under the cap, the inability to draft and develop a single top pair defender in 50 years, etc, etc.
All stuff that Snider oversaw that has continued after his death (the last 2 are beginning to shift). That's the reason why we dont have a cup.
Im not mad because even when they were dumpster diving you looked at the roster and said "they'll go on a run."
Sadly, that run comes too late and now instead of having a repeat of last season we get the First Half From Hell followed by The Mad Dash to the Finish Line resulting in a late lotto pick if lucky.
That being said, Im still happy to see Hart playing well despite his rookie year being used as a shield for this org's incompetence the same way they used Giroux's prime.
Screw Hughes, he's good, but I've seen him, he's not THAT good.
1) Hart is the real deal, he's already the best player on this team (don't think so? Subtract Giroux and we still probably win, subtract Hart and we lose 5-2). The kid plays like a 30 year old veteran, always under control, always in position, always focused. It's freakin' SCARY. And HE'S OURs (probably for the next fifteen years).
2) This team needs some tweaks and additions, but a lot of what they need is simply time, people just expect too much of players in their late teens and early 20s, 22-24 is when most "stars" take off. We have the franchise goalie, we have some solid young players and more on the way.
Provorov - best game of the year, playing like we expected him to play, hopefully he got to get away over the break and learn to relax
Hagg - also possibly his best game of the season
Why do they play AMAC? Uh, Corsi, 55.88, SCA/CF 9/4, HDCF/CA 2/2
Sanheim also played well
Vorobyev played hard, but the 4th line was the only one that was outclassed tonight.
JVR can score, but what has been really surprising this year is what a good passer he is, and he's starting to skate harder.
Remember, they have Frost, Myers, NAK, maybe Farabee, Rubtsov at some point, Friedman, Bailey joining the team next year.
This is going to be a deep, talented team very shortly.
Hopefully Fletcher will make a couple good moves this summer without selling the house.
Screw Hughes, he's good, but I've seen him, he's not THAT good.
Just a reminder. Our beloved TK was almost a Winnipeg Jet. They were picking 25th and it was reported afterward the Jets were taking him.
Hextall swooped in with a last minute trade up from 29th to 24th. RIP Hexy.
Thinking about it a little bit more. The Jets might have indirectly helped in the drafting of Carter Hart as well.
Hexy (RIP) swapped 1st's with Winnipeg in 2016 on the draft floor. Moving back and picking up an early 2nd. The early 2nd was used on Laberge (also RIP). But our 2nd round pick a few picks after was used on Carter Hart.
It's not crazy to think we pick a forward in that spot, instead of Hart, if we didn't pick up the additional 2nd. We did just take 3 goalies the previous draft. Sandstrom, Tomek (RIP), and Fedotov (RIP). Having lots of bullets in the chamber comes in handy. Eventually you might hit the bullseye.
Totally agree w/ the bolded, except Patrick really needs to take that next step imo
