Stewart isn't a NHL player, but when you get down to #15 or so, what do you expect?
As soon as Pitlick got his legs back, Stewart was glued to the bench, until forwards went down like flies.

It's not like the guy who'd replace him would be any better, real players don't sign to sit on the bench for 60 games (barring a streak of injuries).
So if it wasn't Stewart, it would have been a career AHL veteran, think of any RWs who qualify? We saw Varone and Knight last season. Gabriel?

Of all the AHL callups, Twarynski and Andreoff were the best but both are LWs, Kase has flashed but also has a xGF of 30.46% so far, Vorobyev had one good game then back to meh. Bunnaman, meh. Probably time to give NAK another crack or even Laberge, running out of suitable bodies.

TK should be back next week, Raffl in a couple more weeks, Laughton and Pitlick?
This was going to be a tough road trip in any case, just made tougher by an unfortunate string of bad luck. Once they get these four back they can roll 4 lines again, and the AHL kids will have more experience.

Watching Frost and Farabee, they're going to be good, but right now their lack of strength is obvious and a real handicap, makes it hard for them to finish plays. Frost is learning that the windows are smaller and NHL players are more physical, a little bump and he's knocked off stride. Farabee is gutsy but stupid, he got creamed in that fight. He's getting knocked around like a pinata, but gets right back up. But he gets separated from the puck too often, he's got to understand that a lot of his moves around the net won't work until he adds 20 lbs of muscle. Kase has similar issues.

Yup....you can't replace Konecny and Lindblom unless they panic and make a trade

Any AHL veteran is superior to an ECHL player. Fletcher's obsession with filling a role, and insisting on having Stewart has been pure idiocy.

Is there really a big difference between Stewart this year and Knight/Bailey last season? They were just as ineffective.
I'm sure Stewart could've played in the AHL last season if he really wanted to. For some reason he chose England.

He was a bottom six quality player in England. It's hard to understate how bad he is.

I'm sure he was motivated to work out intensely and give it his all, given the high salaries paid in that league. :sarcasm:

Considering his goal was getting himself back to the NHL, then yes, he should have been.

Of course we are the only team stupid enough to let him "play" for us. It's absurd how we always contrive to have a strong candidate for worst forward in the league. We should have a Riley Cote team award for that player annually. It can be a turkey stuffed with hemp.

The Flyers have a lot more faith in themselves than you do.

I’m sure almost every player in the league has faith in themselves. Your point?

Its not about having faith as a fan or a player. It’s about what the goal is here. After the off-season, there was a good chance we were a WC team, a 3 seed at best. Even then it was questionable to think we were capable of contending. Now, it’ll be surprising if we even make the playoffs with these injuries.

They can have faith in themselves all they want, doesn’t change what reality is or seen to stop them from getting blown out right now.
