I agree. COVID delaying the NHL season only hurt his odds
He wouldnt have made it either way. However I think he is there for a reason, experience, he will be on the team next yaer.

Team Canada's WJC camp is absolutely stacked. Strong draft year for Canada combined with several players made available due to the late start to the NHL season that would have otherwise not been made available.

Maybe they consider taking Greig as an energy guy for the 4th line, but I imagine he'll be on the outside looking in. Probably plays in the following tournament though.
Too be honest it was a long shot for him to even get invited so I think thats pretty great.

Could be one of the best team Canada's of all time.

I guess I missed something along the way here. Were we not talking about Lafreniere being left off the camp anouncement?

Doesnt mean he wont go, if the NHL is delayed he will be on the team I am sure. Chicago sent Dach.

However I thought we were talking about the chance of Greig making the team this year.

Such a great experience either way. There is not much option for any competitive training so at minimum getting in to a bubble with Canada's best will be a boost to his game and there is always a lot to learn so I am happy regardless.

Both were going on at the same time LOL.

I had read earlier that Junior was in the rearview mirror for LAF but then a couple of days ago I heard that NYR were open to loaning him if the NHL is delayed. Originally I think they expected training camp to be going on but now who knows? Would be an incredible tourney if all the NHL kids are there too.

Greig is there and would have to really shine to have a shot...even then it may not be enough.

100 percent! Will be an amazing experience for him. He will understand where he needs to get to be next year, just getting invited is massive in my opinion.

Nazem Kadri is a sick comparison if he comes anywhere close to the Avs forward. I have Gallagher/Kadri type ambition for this prospect, definitely expect him to be an effective NHLer.

Kadri appears to have a lot more talent though. Say what you will about him but his A+ hands in junior were on display every night.

Kadri was a 7th overall pick ... How about Paul Byron ? Under sized player who plays above his weight.

Ridley Stats Lines
16 2018-19 63 14 21 35 57
17 2019-20 56 26 34 60 83

Kadri Stats Lines

If Greig is Kadri this is one of the best drafts of all time or its the steal of the draft. I think the Jr leagues are higher scoring at this point and Kadri plays center as his dominant position but it looks positive. I like the way Greig plays.

Just with the way he plays and his attitude ,you can tell this kid will be a player...Even if only a bottom 6 forward...

Kadri was 10 months older than Greig when he was drafted. If you look at their first 2 full seasons in junior, Greig was more productive.

Yeah. As I said the kid still has room to grow. Stats aside Greig plays a simpler game than Kadri did offensively. That's not necessarily a bad thing but he hasn't showed the creativity and hands that Kadri did as a junior YET.

I haven’t seen Grieg play much but he really started piling up the points as the season moved along.

Interesting.

Stuetzle = Matthew Barzal
Sanderson = Scott Niedermayer
Greig = Nazem Kadri
Jarventie = Patrik Laine
Kleven = Scott Stevens
Sokolov = Evgeni Malkin
Merilainen = Miikka Kiprusoff

Not a bad draft :sarcasm:

He's an Ottawa draft pick, you can almost assume that he was a riser, lol

the greig - kadri comparisons is the new jaros - subban comparisons

Who ever made that comparison? Never seen it

Also, didn't see a lot of people that were that high on him. 3rd pair guy, possible 2nd pairing
