Barbashev to Vegas. Have to go another direction for 3rd line wing now. Though at this point I kind of expect that Don is done and happy with the lineup as is.

Wonder if they could take a run at JVR though if the Flyers' price is low.

In season 5 of crappy non-playoff hockey, those Cups aren't going to make watching your lousy team any easier.
gotta be honest..... if, in those years I was watching a lineup of Bob "Swoop" Sweeneys, Stevie Heinzes, and John Carters, we had won a Cup 5 years earlier it would have beat the ever living shit over having to reflect back to 1972. Those were some loooooooong daaaaark days for this B's fan. Still feel a bit queasy from it if I'm honest.

JVR strikes me as a lazy player who needs loads of PP TOI to hit his totals

the "something right" they are doing is having borderline generational talents in Kucherov, Hedman, Stamkos and Vasilevsky. Point just a tier behind them. McDonagh was a major piece too. those guys are the reason they have those Cups.
Of course they help however Tampa plays by committee...big factor in their success. They know playoff hockey.

Teeny-weeny Rasmus Sandin has more hits than all but one Bruins D-man (Clifton).
Let's hold off this debate for the playoffs...Hoping you're wrong.

Why JVR when you can add his brother? LOL

Don should keep WAS on the line and grab Trevor Van Riemsdyk for a late pick and an AHL contract.

He's a dependable RHD and a really solid shot blocker. He also knows CAR well from his time there.

Toronto can score goals too I dunno about 5.
Did you watch Ullmark score that empty net goal?

Did you hear Jack’s maniacal laugh ?

That will be Vaz when sees the Leafs

The only chance that Toronto has is shady referees.

ESPN cares more about Florida viewers

Two things you can never get enough of during the playoffs: garbage goals and guys who can turn transition into goals all by themselves.

I brought Bonino up a month ago, as he's a faceoff guy who always rattles the garbage cans. So, who's the quick strike specialist? And what position does he play?

Totally agree. And, as today's announcement of Taylor Hall being out, I look at the third and fourth lines and say to myself, "I don't think those lines can go against Carolina or Tampa." That's with just one injury. Nosek as a 13th forward is the depth you need, especially with the East being as loaded as it is.

IMO, I'd pass.

Schenn will help a contending team, but with Orlov joining the team, I'm more than comfortable having Clifton as our 6 dman.

He plays the system well and always provides a spark anytime he comes back into the lineup. Schenn, IMO, would be extremely slow to handle if both he and Forb play on our 3rd pair.
I juries do happen in the PO's, just a little insurance.

Frank Vatrano would be a good fit for the 3RW, but he's on a somewhat pricey 3 year deal. Anaheim would have to retain and I know they've done it before but not sure we'd be willing to pay for the player and the retention.

David Perron is another good fit, but again, a pricey 2 year deal that would require rentention...

Is Bjugstad a better third line option than Frederic?? Stats are similar, but he's a righty, more hits and slightly better track record; pushes Freddy to the 4th line with Nick & Hathaway. A lot of bangers with size and some finish on the bottom six. Pushes Nosek & Greer out

Tampa has built their dynasty on having insane top end skill, a large, mobile D and an all-world goalie. They have supplemented all that with strong depth additions over the years. Once they had the core in place they went all-in on depth at multiple deadlines and it got them back to back Cups.

Yes they have size on D and have added enough physicality in the bottom 6 to not be soft, but let's not pretend they are like a 70s Bruins team or something.
They are not the 70’s Bruins but the are the heaviest team at this time. Out side of Maroon their grit guys have skill and actually quite a bit. Let’s hope we play them in round two, it will be a battle we won’t soon forget.
