With a minimum cap increase, I can't see any way he gets that much AAV. I assume his agent is probably looking at the Kulak deal ($2.75M), though maybe keep it to a couple years so he can cash in again on a bigger deal if he can show he can be more than a bottom pair defenseman.

For sure. I don’t see this as a cliffy>carlo thing. More of a cliffy at a specific $$>carlo on his current deal in terms of overall value - cliffy has been more consistent and even interesting with lindholm. Can’t bet on lohrei but you can be sort of ready for him

Although while I'd rather keep the defensive depth, cleaning Reilly would be worth it.

I still think they use zboril or ahcan as the adder to get rid of reilly. Perhaps add another RD? Fortbort and the new body are pair 4, Zboril/ahcan and Stralman pair 5
