OT: 2024 Solar Eclipse

Astronomy was my favorite class in high school and I just don't get the hype over these things.

IMO it is their rareness, eclipses just don't happen very often. Same thing with comet sightings.

I drove out from Atlanta to Memphis yesterday, and this morning drove up to Cape Girardeau, Missouri, right in totality.

The weather's pretty much perfect, and I've got everything all set up! About 30 minutes until totality!

I'll share actual photos once I get home. I'm not a great photographer, but hopefully I'll get lucky.

That was wild. Everything got very still here and the temp dropped a good 10 degrees. House got really dark and it looked more like dusk than 1:45 in the afternoon. It looks hazy out now. So cool

My daughter in Indianapolis says crazy cool. Total dark like midnight and all the street lights came on.

Im enjoying it here so far. Might as well since Ma wont get a near full again until 2078.
