My dream lineup for next year:

Othmann-Wright-Guenther
Stankoven-Bedard-Savoie
Bolduc-Geekie-Yager
Johnston-Fantilli-Stillman
L'Heureux, Gaucher

Lambos-Clarke
Zellwegger-Luneau
Mateychuk-Matier
Allan, Nelson

Gaudreau
Brennan
Nice line-up. I think you could see another draft-eligible guy like Ritchie or Benson (who will have been playing alongside Geekie or Savoie) make a strong push.

Someone said this is looking like a down year?

Fantilli will be much higher up the line up even if he's a winger. Other that it's pretty solid.

Wright, Bedard, Michkov is going to be great but I'm hoping we see Kiviharju from Finland as a 16 y/o but I doubt it.

Well after two years of disappointing results I hope that this team pulls out a win. The 2022 draft doesn't look that strong for Canada, at least a few months out, so a good result might be trickier the following year. I think that we clearly shouldn't expect Sillinger and McTavish, and Wright and Savoie may be very iffy.

After all that we just saw you still have Wright playing higher up in the lineup than Bedard?

Why not? He still needs it + he missed a whole season, let him get that season in.

Plus Arizona and Montreal are early in a rebuilding phase, bringing Wright now would be highly detrimental to his development.

Even tho he missed a season, he'll still have 2 OHL seasons under his belt come September. Thats usually the norm for guys.

For some players, however, you should not throw unprepared prospects into early rebuilds, Edmonton-Buffalo are perfect examples of why.

Not saying whoever draft him will be wise, but hey, he's not ready to lead a team now, that's pretty obvious.

I think by next year he'll be ready to play in the NHL.

Should be a stacked team, I think it can rival the 2021 team imo.

Looks good for an early look and I also think that Mason McTavish will be in the NHL, guessing that you agree?

Exactly that lineup is just plain sick and I don't see a down year any time soon for the Canadians.

I think Wright should be on this team next year. Keeping him in the NHL would be a mistake. and If available he should also be on the U18 team this spring. He needs all the reps he can get.

I'd like to see McTavish and Wright both back next year. most likely one or both will be in the NHL, but unless they are playing significant roles and producing, it would be a smart move to give them both another crack at the World Juniors. fingers crossed.

Wright could probably go either way, but McTavish looks pretty NHL ready.

Will wait and see until the season kicks off in the fall and he plays 9 games to see if he's actually NHL ready or not. It's close, but as of a few months ago he wasn't... and I wouldn't change my opinion based on 3 games against junior aged players.

I think it's highly likely he sticks in the NHL. in any event, even if he does that doesn't preclude him from another WJHC tournament...unless of course he is playing significant minutes and putting up pts.

Happy New Year BTW. currently working on my U18 roster and hoping we get a tournament.

I fully expect McTavish and Wright to be unavailable, along with any other kid that didn’t get released this year. I think Pinelli finds a way onto the team, HC likes guys who perform and he’s done it on the international level. I see Roy being penciled in down the middle a lot, he hasn’t played down the middle since he went to Sherbrooke, he’s definitely a winger on this team if he makes it. Bolduc is another kid who’s been playing on the wing this year, don’t see him moving to the middle of the ice. L’Heureux has a season to show his temper can be controlled, otherwise there’s no chance they bring him. He’ll be a liability to the team in games, for now I have him as an extra forward but he could just as easily be cut.

Canada could put together 2 teams next year and they would probably play each other in the gold medal game .
