I hope Bergeron comes back for one more year, especially since it’s the centennial year.

I don’t think winning a Stanley Cup is a realistic goal for the team this year. It’s apparent last year was the year they decided to “go for it,” and this year is the result of those consequences — a bridge year with significant financial limitations until the cap significantly increases the following year.

However, I don’t think it’s out of reach for them to be competing for a playoff spot and be an entertaining team most nights. I plan to try and enjoy the upcoming season for what it is.

I would want Bergeron back , not the 38 year old with a herniated disk......

McLaughlin will beat out Brown for sure. I think the big question marks on the forward group are Bergeron, Merkulov and Lysell. If one of those guys can be legit top six things look a lot better. If it’s two then you are really cooking.

These signings today were low risk high reward types you take a chance on when you’re in the cap situation they were in. I think is was a good day. I would t completely shut the door on Bertuzzi no matter what Sweeney says. He might price himself into a deal the Bruins are willing to do.

I think that Geekie signing is really clever though. Maybe a third line of Frederic-Geekie-Lauko could catch opponents off guard.

JVR in the top six though... yeah. The difference between him and Hall will be staggering.

If you couldn’t get your ask for Ullmark this off-season when everyone is broke you can get it next off-season when everyone is rich. It’s called asset management.

The cap will also allow the Bruins to consider retaining both Ullmark and Swayman beyond this season.

I don't think Lysell is making the team. Maybe an injury call up. He didn't exactly light it up in Prov last year. Same for Merkulov.

That was a record paced team at the TDL and fastest to 100 points ever.

You are replacing Foligno, Nosek and Smith with Lucic, Geekie and McLaughlin.

You are replacing Clifton with Shattenkirk.

So far, so good, honestly. Hard to argue they got worse with those moves.

You are replacing Hall with JVR. A downgrade for sure, but a maybe a better fit. JVR is essentially a poor man’s Bertuzzi: good hands around the net and big enough to shield the puck around the net, but pretty mediocre on the rest of the ice.

Krejci for Lauko…well can’t put any good spin on that. But if Bergeron is back…this is still a VERY good team. Less offensive depth, but some more size in the bottom six. The D is basically the same. Clifton for Shatty shouldn’t matter much at 5 on 5 and there is PP upside. The G are obviously the same.

If Bergeron doesn’t come back it’s dicier. Still a top 5 goals allowed team but hard to see how they score enough. You essentially become the Islanders.

But, they will have a LOT of cash next summer and by then Lysell and Lorhei should be ready play or be trade assets. I would have loved to see them flip Ullmark now and make some hay, but if people were not going to pay up, wait until next year when more teams will have cash.

Still wonder what is gonna happen with Gryz and wonder if there could be something that could happen with Calgary.

Well Krecji is a center so Lauko would not be replacing Krecji , who at the end of last year looked slow and old and being a year older ummm.
Bergeron also another year older with a bad back ,shoild not be counting on him..........I have never been a fan of Cliffton , no loss as far as I can see....
Geekie might be worth a shot , nothing to lose young and cheap ......
McLaughlin has shown squat so far , not sure about him think he might be a little soft......

Merkulov has nothing else to do down there, the question is if he is a AAAA player or not. Lysell had a tough second half. Hit the wall for sure. But growth isn’t linear so who knows. The betting man would agree with you. But the betting man both thought the Bruins were going to be a playoff bubble team last year and then a few months later a Cup winner so who the f*** knows.

That's a good line-up. I think Zacha, Coyle, Frederic and Geekie will be fine as the center group. Should make the playoffs.

Not enough good for been qualified by Seatle...but better than what we ve have, and give him 2mil? Why not playing young kids, Lauko we know he can, Merkulov it s time or never, Beecher can be on the 4th line, big fast physical, great at the dot, Mclaughlin...
