Also worth adding to the conversation that Bergeron had the exact same 5v5 Points per 60 min as Lindholm this past season, and had considerably more then Scheifele. If Bergy isn't a 1C then neither are those guys,

I was talking about 2021-22 when Krejci was gone and Coyle started the year at 2C, only to get replaced by Haula like halfway through the year.
Oh ok. You said last year. I don’t think he got outplayed, otherwise Coyle would’ve got traded.

Too many poster take this stuff personal, this is my alterative world. My real world is the place I take seriously, this place it for entertaining purposes and to vent off.

I hope the posters that left return, its a better place when they do.

I mean we tried Coyle as 2C last year and he got outplayed by Erik Haula. Coyle is 31, to me he sorta is what he is at this point. Great 3C that can fill in the top 6 in a pinch, but not quite an everyday 2C. But who knows, maybe if you put him between Marchand and Debrusk those two will elevate his game enough that it'll be a legit 2nd line regardless.
Replaced and outplayed. It just shows how remarkably average Coyle is, he could be replaced by a number of centers in the NHL for less and there would be little to no drop off and for the same dollars, probably some improvement. Marchand and DeBrusk would have to drag him to being a decent second line center and it would all be based on them

Now tell me what the rest of the third line centers are making per year. Coyle's contract was and still is poo poo

Jack and Brick remind us every time he touches the puck lol
VGK - Karlsson, $5.9M
CAR - Kotkienemi, $4.8M
CGY - Kadri, $7M or if you prefer Backlund, $5.35M
COL - either Johansen at $4M (50% retained) or Colton (at a high RFA number)
LAK - Danault, $5.5M
MTL - Dvorak, $4.45M
NYR - Chytil, $4.437M
PIT - corpse of Jeff Carter, $3.125M
STL - Schenn, $6.5M
WAS - Dylan Strome, $5M

Don't think that is true.
If you have a better way of analyzing defensive play I’m all ears but this 92 percentile is against everyone else. Ignore the dollars at the top unless you take the time to understand Dom’s model and how that works.

Everyone I looked up on this list that played in the playoffs last season outperformed Coyle by a good margin. Chytil with the least amount of points still had double Coyle’s production. Karlsson had 11 goals.

Schenn had 65 points last season, 2C production. I think his contract is fair for that production.

Kadri’s contract is terrible and shouldn’t be used as a barometer for a third line center. Kadri is an overpaid 2C that cashed in on a career year.

Just know what I see.

Like to watch hockey, not studying someone's "model" to tell me what's really happening.

Ok. But how can you assess players on all the other teams you don’t watch nightly?

I can't.

Only by hearsay from people that do watch them nightly.

As for Frederic, I have rarely ever heard Brickly or Jaffe or Pederson comment on his defensive game or even a specific instance where they say, wow great defensive play by Freddy! He doesn't really tally many takeaways or blocked shot either.

Just my opinion.
