I guess one good thing about MS being on a 1year deal is that he'd kind of be on a trial period for good behavior. He'd have to fit and be accepted if he wants to improve his rep for his next contract.

And we could get retention for that one year…but what’s the cost? It FEELS like MS could end up in a situation similar to JT Miller…teams won’t want to pony up a lot to sign the guy to a bad contract and the Jets won’t move him unless they get a price they like and end up giving him a new deal that will immediately be hard to move.

This is a weird off-season. Last year we knew the entire off-season hung on Bergeron/Krejci decisions. Now, we have no idea who they're moving but rumors are saying "insane move". Anything other than moving Pastrnak/McAvoy would be franchise altering/insane to me. Which I don't see happening. Unless Bruins front office are being reactionary towards McAvoys terrible G7 performance.
