The defence looks very soft without Hamonic, they will need Kleven sooner rather than later. It might work if they signed Miles Wood for the 2nd line & traded DBC for just picks/prospects or traded DBC to Detroit for picks & send the picks to Arz for Crouse.

Tkachuk - Norris - Batherson
Crouse/Wood - Stutzle - Giroux
Greig - Pinto - Sokolov
Jiri/Kelly - Kastelic - Joseph/Sabourin

Chabot - Chychrun
Sanderson - Zub
Brannstrom/Kleven - JBD (Hamonic ???)

Korpisalo - Forsberg/Sogaard

Apparently they're discussing with Hamonic and he wants to be back. Garrioch says it depends on what happens with Debrincat.

DeBrincat [7.65] - Norris [7.95] - Batherson [4.975]
Greig [.863333] - Pinto [XXX] - Joseph [2.95]
Kelly [.7625] - Kastelic [.835] - Sokolov [.XXX]

Chabot [8] - Chychrun [4.6]
Sanderson [.925] - Zub [4.6]

Forsberg [2.75]

Murray [1.5625]

So they have 1.75M to get Pinto and Sokolov [or any other 4th liner] signed.

The day has come that even our idiotic coach and GM know, that Chabot is the weakest link on our defence. The guy should be traded asap to San Jose. Kleven is so much better for EK. Even now we have Sanderson 1PPU and Chychrun/Barnnstrom - 2PPU

Dump Zub and dump Joseph.. replace them with entry level contracts. That saves 6M. My opinion, this board over rates Zub. I think Brannstrom can step up and fill that spot.

I wonder what the NHL trade Market would be like for Zub as compared to Brannstrom.

Personally I keep Zub and if we need to free up money for NHL minimum players .. I move Joseph and use Brannstrom as the sweetener.

Reinhart can replace Joseph. Kleven can replace Brannstrom

I think we would need to move Joseph for sure, Pinto bridge deal (lower cap hit), replace Pageau with other players/prospects in a Debrincat trade (i.e. Walhstrom, etc.)

That Murray and MDZ dead cap is so gross. Completely unforced errors with those contracts.

Doable but we need to aim this perfectly. Tarasenko signs a one year deal. We'll see if we're a fit. Either way 2024 UFA class is much better.

Can’t go into a season with 6 D at the cap, asking for trouble.

The second a misses a game you’re putting Parker Kelly on D because you can’t afford to call up a D.

Team needs to have 13 F, 7 D, 2 goalies signed and then some room to call up guys when inevitable injuries arise.

I don't think Tarasenko makes 6, how many teams can realistically afford that for him? I also don't see the Islanders trading for DBC without including Pageau at the very least. The salary is too tight for them and it won't work. This is the risk with waiting after free agency to deal Debrincat, it's becoming tougher and tougher and Detroit looks more and more like the only option. Yzerman knows Dorion is standing with no other options.

I really don't like where we're standing right now. Not a good situation to be in, Dorion has put himself in a corner here.

- We don't have enough money to keep Debrincat and re-sign our players
- Debrincat is not willing to facilitate a trade so if he's traded it'll probably be for literal pennies on the dollar
- If we can't trade Debrincat that means we need to deal from our depth which is already non-existent
- There are just a very few options left on the UFA market and most of them are not very enticing.

So at this point there's only a few plausible scenarios... None of them are good for this team.

I don't want to be too dramatic but losing Debrincat for not much will really hurt this teams chances going forward. That and grabbing Tyler Boucher in the top 10 is what separates a team like New Jersey and Ottawa or Ottawa and Buffalo. It'll be very tough to match up against these teams going forward, we're losing too many assets just out of pure stupidity.

Using 7th overall, 10th overall and 12th overall (8th-16th when traded, not surprising it's 12th) in back-back-back years and essentially having Chychrun is pretty miserable for sure,

Sens hdded Chychrun signed for another 2 and Boucher

Devils added Nemec, Hughes and Meier for 8 years with their 1st rounders. Stillman is in the Boucher category.

Sabres added Power, Kulich, Savoie, Benson, Ostlund, Rosen the past 3 drafts.

Sens don't have the depth or talent coming up that our compatriots do

Not true. You send down a forward and recall Kleven.
