There is no one this offseason worth signing except as a warm body.

There is no one currently available in trade worth trading for.

I would draft a bunch of Cs this year and next, hope for Pettersson to ask out of Vancouver, and see how Kasper develops. Maybe see if Toronto has to cut Nylander loose next season.

Chicago and Arizona will get the first and second pick, Don't hope for Detroit.

Interesting take, Cotton.

Let’s see how this pans out in a years time.

I dont get why everyone is dreaming about Fantilli ?

Almost same odds of getting #2 as we do getting #1. Why don’t people just go all the way and dream about Bedard ?

Sort of like the guy who has Brock Lesnar on the 4th line. That is a proper dream.

When I buy a lotto max I do so hoping to win one of the Max Million side prizes. I like to convince myself that with a more modest hope it's more likely to happen because I'm not being " too greedy"lol

I am extremely confident that our opening roster will look very different than this and frankly, would be disappointed if this is the roster yzerman puts forward.

5 rookies? definitely not happening. Cap floor team? again, not happening. Hard pass on Dumba as well.

Send Czarnik down**

This is literally the best lineup we would have since like 2010-2012. This is the roster we should try to get. It has goaltending, defense with a chip on the shoulder, and most importantly, goal scoring.

This lineup gets us to the playoffs comfortably.

I even kept Perron and I don't want to. Get rid of him and Killorn can take that spot to make the lines more balanced. Would put Suter centering ras and soderblom, then killorn with copp and fabbri, then second line would have fabbri and berg switch.

without perron
Raymond - Larkin - Meier
Berggren - Kasper - Kubalik
Killorn - Copp - Fabbri
Soderblom - Suter - Rasmussen

That is a pretty good forward group. This would be end of year lineup when/if Kasper takes over Copp for the 2C. If he doesn't, then just switch copp and kasper.

Seems like a perfect fit for Detroit's timeline. Hometown boy, too.

From I understand, let's say Detroit trades for him before July 1st, he can be signed at a lower amount than his 9M qualifying offer, correct? I would think a contract similar to Robert Thomas / Jordan Kyrou is in order.

I'd trade a 1st+ for him. We hope one of our 1sts this year is Debrincat, may as well trade for him. We desperately need scoring he's perfect.

Oh yeah most likely. i just dont see some of the ufa that will sign with det. like killorn i dont see him coming here. i see him going to a team that is a cup contender. i dont care if they roll out a team with 5 rookies on it. i dont see meier signing here he will want a team that is a cup contender as well.

I look at guys like Compher, Eller, Blueger, Rodrigues, Suter, Haula, Nosek etc. Nothing that really excites more and no long term options but Yzerman will want to add some center depth and roster flexibility. Id also expect him to add a winger like JVR, Dadonov, Zucker, Bert etc. Again nothing Im actively wanting and no long term options but depth.

- Familiar GM
- Familiar Coach
- Red Wings can pay him a dump truck full money

Killorn turns 34 in next september, he's got 2 cups(at the moment) and he has played his whole NHL career with very cap friendly contract. If Killorn is ever going to cash in, this summer is the moment to do so.

with a cup team not a team trying to just make plyoffs, makes no sense for him. unless he like yzerman that much to come to detroit.

He's undeniably talented, but we just saw his scoring dip from 1.00 and 0.95 points per game in Chicago the last two years with Patty Kane to 0.80 this season in Ottawa. I don't think he's going to hit that mark in Detroit.

Alex Debrincat - Fantasy Hockey Game Logs, Advanced Stats and more - Frozen Tools

30 powerplay points which is great, but even strength he wasn't as good this year.

If Debrincat is on the market. I would be disappointed if Yzerman didn't explore it.

Think he is gonna be overpaid, thanks to his past with Patrick Kane. All those best scoring years he played with Kane. No surprise, how his goal amounts did drop drastically without Kane, with lesser guys at Ottawa.

Even though everybody in NHL was scoring more in high-scoring season, he scored a lot less. 27 goal guy is nothing. Perron just scored 24 goals. Debrincat was also -31.

We don't have that kind of Kane-level playmaker for him, so let's dodge this bullet.

he was first line in chicago vs 2nd line on ottowa. He’d be the wings best offensive talent and would play first line. I’d bet he’d get back to his chicago numbers here

He’d be a solid add but not the kind of guy to overpay for/trade a top 10 pick for imo.
Pay the islanders pick + a bit more for him. Qualifying offer is going to scare off a lot of teams. We are in that small group of teams where he makes sense. The teams with high picks are not along far enough to have a guy like debrincat make sense

I don’t think it’s that concerning of a dip. I’d gladly trade that Islanders first rd + for him. He’s a good player. Would be slightly concerned with the size of the top 6, but he still generates shots better than anyone on this team.

Cup contenders don't have the cap space. Killorn would have to take a pay cut(again) to get signed by one them and almost at the age of 34, why would he do that? Especially when he has 2 cup rings weight in down his fingers. He don't have many years left, this summer is the last chance for him to get really paid. Like Palat in last summer, signed a 5 x 6 deal with the Devils and Devils was worse than the Wings were last year.

Watch this.

DeBrincat - Larkin - Killorn
Raymond - O'Reilly - Perron
Burgers - Copp - Kubalik

This has to score more goals, right?
