If they luck into Fantilli and make those free agent additions, this team definitely makes the playoffs.

EDIT: But kinda hoping New Jersey gets bounced early and Timo Meier hits the market.
I would love Meier on this edition of the Red Wings.

Hope you are ready to pony up, because he has a 40 goal season going into the open market after hitting 35 goals last year.

Yeah I would, but people here were saying they wouldn't res-ign Larkin for 8 mil... so ya know. Sticker price shock around these parts.

Meier would be our highest paid player for sure. Probably 9 or better a year.

Weren't the people saying that Larkin is too expensive the same people from the pro-tank crowd? I wouldn't listen to a word those jabronis say. If it were up to them we'd have a roster that looks worse than the Blackhawks.

You pony up for that and don't complain. 40 goal scorers don't often hit free agency.
you have to pony up because lalonde explicitly commented/complained at a press conference that we don't have any 30 goal scores, much less 40 goal scorers. So, if Yzerman wants us to be able to score a goal or two, we need to pay for the players that give us those goals.

And of course we have all the luck in the world and we will win the lottery and get Fantili (let's be honest, they already know who they want to give bedard, and that ain't going to be us). :sarcasm:

I think the trying to get Frederick Andersen is a pipe dream (we're talking about the carolina, formerly toronto goalie right......).

Ehlers would be great, but it seems like you are saying we are going to get him for free, since we still have all our players listed. Obviously, would love to go for Meier first and just put all our balls in the basket for him. Meier playing with Larkin and almost literally anyone else, we would have, easily a 40 and 30 goal scorer on that line.

Fantili is the dream that I don't want to wake up from, but here we are. I think Kasper would get the nod to be higher in the depth chart than him but that just my opinion.

I will say, that cap hit is great that you created, but it is going to be extremely tight to have raymond and seider locked up long-term for the next season. You would have to hope that the cap goes up to around 90 the next year.

I dont get why everyone is dreaming about Fantilli ?

Almost same odds of getting #2 as we do getting #1. Why don’t people just go all the way and dream about Bedard ?

Sort of like the guy who has Brock Lesnar on the 4th line. That is a proper dream.

I think people are so burnt by the lottery. So if we were to win, we wouldn't get the golden egg and have to "settle" for Fantilli.

I've always been pro Larkin on the roster, but I cannot speak for others. I agree that you need guys like him, Maata, Perron, LGD, etc to show the young guys how to be good pro's.

I'm just more critical on some of the middle lineup players like Copp (though after the first half of the year recovering from his injury he returned to form) and Chia pet signings. Kubalik I'm Luke warm about but if we put him with Larkin next year hopefully he can up his value for a trade deadline deal.

cause if you go all the way and dream for bedard, you are in a losing battle. We will never have that, so why waste your time and energy?

THEN, if it does happen you'll be even happier! It's like hoping you get an A- on that huge test and you actually got an A+, feels a hell of a lot better than hoping you got an A+ but actually getting an A-.

We need kubalik on the PP1 for one timers just like washington uses ovi. He has a fast and hard shot, and if you give him all summer and camp to just sit at that dot and take slap shots routinely and often, he could easily be our highest PP producer on this team. We also need seider or whoever to pass the puck a lot harder over to him so the goalie has less time to react. I have been noticing with our passes for one timers on the PP seem to be extremely slow, so they are just ineffective because of timing.

I would go 9 without blinking. It's just a matter of whether somebody else goes 10, and how close to 10 I'd consider going. Adding that type of scoring to this style of roster building would be huge.

I mean, just imagine if Nashville at their peak suddenly added a 40-goal scorer. That's a perennial contender, with abundant defense, great goaltending, and now some real punch to balance it out. I think the existing players and prospects are building towards something similar (assuming Cossa pans out).

We don't even need to imagine. That was the 2019 Blues with Tarasenko. That Blues roster was basically a "Nashville style" team that was able to punch through the playoffs and get a Cup.
