The difference is that NATO isn't invading. Countries have to ask to be part of NATO. That's a particularly specious argument.

Whether it's likely or not doesn't change that American interventionism is a genuine concern for countries on the US's s***list :dunno:

Plus, the US had also never just invaded an independent middle eastern state until they decided to give it a try in Iraq. So you never know with those people.

And Iraq certainly didn’t do anything to warrant an invasion.

Also you seem to be confusing nato and the us. But if your answer is that war is justified because an independent country wants to make its own political decision to enter NATO, then you should head to Belgorod and pick up arms.

Yea, CGF, this is one of your few big misses. No way can they be considered comparable.

What a thoroughly entertaining last 7 pages. Amazing how consistently one guy can show his full ass all the time.

Did anyone actually watch Putin's speech at the start of this invasion? People are spending a lot of ink here on the NATO part, but this psychopath doesn't even think Ukrainians are a separate group of people with a legitimate state! This is very much a war of aggression with more of a geopolitical side note, than main motivator. The guy is trying to redraw boundaries out of some messianic vision of what he thinks Greater Russia is and ought to be.

The idea that NATO is some encroaching sentient entity is laughable. Guess what, these nations WANT to join NATO precisely because of what we're seeing now - an aggressive and irredentist Russia intent on bullying smaller border nations and ensuring they never use their own agency to wrestle out of the big bear's orbit. That's it.
