The 2022 Under-17 Five Nations Tournament will take place in Colorado Springs, Colorado, from August 9-13. It is comprised of 5 teams.

Zetterberg, Eriksson and Sterner is the top forwards to me. They played good at the u16 4 nation tournament. Our 06 squad won 8-1 vs slovakia and 5-2 vs czech. Lost 4-3 agaisnt Finland

I think Jamiro Reber has the highest upside. I would not say its an amazing group but I like it more than the 04 and 05 classes.

U probably joking, but our 06 age group won agaisnt slovakia with 8-1. We lost agaisnt Finland but it was a very level and fun game to watch.

It was not even a particularly good game from him for his standards. He dominated internationally last year especially with his skating and vision, altough against much weaker competition. I thought he played very well defensively though, yesterday. It was interesting to see them play the czechs. I expected them to play stronger and at least keep the game somewhat close. They had really bad puck luck though and could/should have scored at least two goals, maybe even three. Since this was really the first game against a good opponent for this U17 national team, I expect them to adapt and get better in the coming games. At least I hope they will...

I am gonna repeat myself, but I have no idea why the best 16 year olds in Switzerland play almost exclusively in the U17 league. In the swiss system, you can't produce high-end talent players like that. The kids have potential, but it's simply getting surpressed I feel.

Swiss prospects are notorious of having bad shots/finishing ability, mostly due to lack of good junior coaches that can teach them the technique when they are young. As far as the leagues they play in I don't know exactly what you mean. I guess you would propose to move them up to the U20 faster? I think the best course of action would be to have a U18 national team that plays in the U20 like Slovakia does it in their program. The issue is that neither the clubs nor the federation is interested in doing that.

I do like a few of the 06s too, though, especially Hense, Pape, Schams on D. Might not be much worse than Tropmann/Mayer/Niehus. The forwards.... not sure. Will be interesting to see them at the 5 Nations.

While I liked some of the guys last year playing for the U16, they did not do that well against Switzerland. It was a rather disappointing effort.

The last two CZE-SUI games were much closer and Switzerland even got a shootout win to wrap up the series. But I was still much more impressed with the Czechs overall, in terms of top-end talent, depth and also tactical aspects. Czechia was much more effective on breakouts and zone entries, with set plays and strong passing, whereas for Switzerland it often came down to individual efforts and luck. Anytime I tried to focus primarily on the Swiss players to get to know them better, I noticed some Czech player instead.

Czechia was much more effective on breakouts and zone entries, with set plays and strong passing, whereas for Switzerland it often came down to individual efforts and luck. Anytime I tried to focus primarily on the Swiss players to get to know them better, I noticed some Czech player instead.

I was dissapointed with the Czech team to be honest, and I didn't have high expectations, given their play/results in the U16 category. The Swiss team played well though, better than I expected and all things considered, deserved to grab the W today, even if only in the shootout.
