I felt like outside the defensemen Ustinkov and maybe Leon Muggli none of the more talented swiss players played up to their potential. Guys like Reber, Bosson and Saladin are better than they have shown over the exhibition games. I dont think any of them is a top prospect but they have more upside than they let on in the last few days. Still I liked how they adapted to the faster pace of the international game almost immediately. I felt like they improved in every game, even though the czechs seemed kind off tired in the last one. All in all I still think this is a slightly above average group for our standards. The 2004 and 2005 birth years would have probably been routed by this czech team...

I liked the performances of both teams, they were quite good quality hockey. And I think it's high time to start a thread with the name Tomáš Galvas (Czechboy please..). He is better than Svozil and Hamara at his age. And I really like both players.

Exactly, I was almost shocked by Galvas. What a player

German team got pumped 8-1 in their pre-tournament game.
Max Herzog was the lone goal scorer.

Not really surprising. If anything I am somewhat impressed they did not get into double digits.
The younger the players involved, the bigger the gap to the top nations.
I am not expecting great results in this tournament.

This tournament starts tomorrow. It looks like these games will only be shown through Hockey TV. I've seen nothing else about where they'd be shown. Last year's August U17 tournament games were shown for free.

Max Herzog again the lone goal scorer for Germany

Yes, nice little deflection of a point shot from Maximilian Merkl.
Herzog started strong then disappeared a little, but as usual he ended up in just the right place to score eventually. Interesting kid.

Slovakia beat Germany 8-2. Underage Michal Svrcek lights up the Germans. This 15 YO kid is gonna be a star, haven’t seen a Slovak centre developed at home like him in a long long time. I woulda taken him to Hlinka

Impressive game by the Czechs against Switzerland, despite the close score. Don't think I have seen a Czech team where so much offense flows through defensemen. And as has been mentioned above, defenseman Tomas Galvas, what a fantastic prospect...
Are you watching on hockeytv? I couldn't find the transmission anywhere and 30 euros or dollars..? I don't even know, after a few matches I don't want to give up.
Oh and Galvas is an awesome prospect..

No, wouldn't give that money for few games myself either. I have access to a scouting platform called SportContract, which uploads all sorts of games, including this U17 tournament. Unfortunately no way for me to share it with anyone though.

The streams are of good quality and even have a commentator, but it still pisses me off you have to pay to watch a bunch of 16 years old in a rather irrelevant tournament, when the games would have been streamed for free in any other country.

That's good, I envy that.

Big 5-4 win for Germany against the Swiss. Did Anyone catch the game?

Not yet. Will watch it either tonight or tomorrow.
I only skipped to the goals, which showed me that the box score here is useless.

The goals by Maxime Bickel to make it 3-2 and by Tim Schütz to make it 5-4 were both clearly unassisted. The one by Bickel was especially egregious. He intercepted a clearing attempt by a Swiss player and scored. No way anybody should have gotten an assist on this (except the Swiss player maybe).

Both goals by Tim Schütz were quite pretty, especially the first one.
