imagine if they pick zadorov and flip him for a return which stan couldnt manage to do
Apples and oranges of trading players before and after expansion considering the need to protect.

Maybe Stan wanted to give them a 3rd round pick instead of losing one of the players.
Meh, 3rd round pick won't amount to an NHLer more often than not. Z is worth more than a 3rd, maybe not so much Gaudette. That'd be horrible asset management based on who was exposed.

Side deal smells like a LHD. Seattle is rumored to be taking/signing Oleksiak, Dunn, Fleury, Lauzon, Giordano, and Soucy who are all LHD. Giordano is rumored to be heading to the Rangers....but 5 LHD would remain and Z is another LHD as our most valueable (minus the Pejorative Slur contract demands) unprotected asset on the expansion list.
I don't think he'll be overpaid, probably 3-3.5milGiving up a third-round pick in order to preserve a guy that will almost guaranteed be overpaid is something I can't get behind.
If that's true, commence the Stanley bashing...just because.
I am glad Gaudette was not the pick. I think he might be a pleasant surprise.
only person worth bashing is francis because unless they have a lot of deals lined up the team is likely going to be terrible next year
Maybe that's his plan? Get a solid D core, get lots of picks, trade for Eichel, build through the draft with high forward picks.only person worth bashing is francis because unless they have a lot of deals lined up the team is likely going to be terrible next year

Maybe if we got Giordano back at 50% retained.Any guesses. Any chance we give them our goalie pick from last year because we have our eye on one of the two Friday ?
Pole position for '22.
Yeah, I feel like they didn't want to be bogged down by expensive/long term contracts. I think Eberle has the longest contract out of all of them, and sounds like it's a side deal with NYI.can't remember where but think there was some speculation that seattle didn't want to spend a lot of money out the gate on a team but could be wrong...it would add up with some of these picks given the talent they could've had on the roster with tarasenko, voracek, etc
