No franchise player in this draft, which is what makes it poor. It has talent but more of the RNH/Landenskog variety upfront, but it looks like it has terrific talent on D.
I don't think it's as bad as 2012, which produced very little in the way of NHLers.
I think it's more in line with 2011 (the RNH draft).
It's going to be a very tough class to follow since a lot aren't even playing yet, so viewings will likely be limited. Plus, all international tournaments have been cancelled; however I understand the WJC will be played in Canada without fans.
There is another stud goalie in this draft. Sweden's Jesper Wallstedt.
But otherwise it's Aatu Raty vs an assortment of D for #1 OA, including Brandt Clarke, Carson Lambos, Owen Powers & Luke Hughes. There's also WHL ROY of the year Dylan Guenther (RW).
Basically, #1 is wide open. There's no real defining player; however, I do think it will produce quality NHLers at an average rate.
It's an average draft vs a poor one like 2012 or 1999.
