WHAT THEY'RE SAYING – KINGS VS ISLANDERS
ESPN STREAMS, CHICKEN PARM, PORN, LIMEWIRE... BYFIELD IS A BEAST EDITION!

RZAty : Keep your eyes on Durzi. I think he's easily a very good threat on LA.
Hunn : Excited. (1) A game against an opponent of our level – not Philly, but not Washington either. (2) No 3rd jersey.
Chardo : Are we at their level? We'll see...
SI90 : I’m convinced I’m going to have a stroke watching these ESPN streams. It’s like watching porn from Limewire back in the day.
RZAty : Durzi with that move was sick
MJF : Kings really skating well. They get up and down the ice fast. Doing a good job on the backcheck.
RZAty : imagine if we had Brandon Lemieux over Matt Martin
IslandersGER : boring hockey so far
RZAty : lmfao byfield nearly with his first. smh
ekill08x : This is a measuring stick game for us and honestly we aren’t really measuring up. They are better.
RZAty : ahahahahaha AHAHAHAHAHAHA HOW DO I CALL THIS SHIT?
BillD : Of course. 1st career goal. Classic islanders
SI90 : Snipe by Byfield. He’s going to be a beast.
xECK29x : You knew it was coming as soon as they mentioned Byfield didn’t have one yet
Hunn : A wicked shot.
The Winter Soldier : Varly would probably want that first one back. This is not a recording.
ZAty : "Fun fact: Quinton Byfield is the 194th player in #NHL history to record their first-career #NHL goal against the #Isles"
SI90 : 2 shots in a period. That’s how you score goals. Freeze the goalie and get him bored.
The Real JT : LA woman would be more appropriate tonight. I think we need Mister Mojo risin’
RZAty: man imagine if the isles had younger players to compliment their older counterparts!
isles55 : Do these announcers talk about the game or just the players?
beach : The Isles look flatter than a Q-Anon earth.
SI90 : Barzal taking the dog hair off his stick
Top Corner : Every game I watch, you can see win or lose we always look like the slower team
Hunn : Any chance Dobson gets to Doughty level?
ekill08x : Not sure what’s worse, our play or this ESPN+ broadcast.
RZAty : something has gone stale on this team
Hunn : A rare game that I don't know who I cheer for.
The Wahligator : Zegras is insane
Tater Trotz : Chara makes Brown look like McDavid
Hunn : Are they going to be shut out by Petersen and the Kings?
scottywiper : The crowd has lost interest too
SI90 : f*** this team. So lazy. Varly is cooked
The Winter Soldier : Varly would like that 2nd one back, this is not a recording. Back breaker there.
Tater Trotz : This is one of the most boring and pathetic games I’ve seen in years
NYI365 : I'm as optimistic fan as they come. They're not making the playoffs.
BrockLobster : This team only beat teams w losing records. Lets be honest
periferal: There is something so wrong with this team mentally. I don't know what it is, but everyone is culpable.
FourRings : Absolute backbreaker. Kings goalie makes a great scramble save and Varly let’s his guard down and gives up a terrible angle goal.
Strummergas : Speaking of accountability, whoever did AJ's makeup for this broadcast should be fired.
Crashsunday : Just came back to see if it has gotten any better. Probably one of the most frustrating games to watch…quite stifling.
FourRings : Petersen making quality saves. Varly giving up shit.
IslandersGER : still don't get it why to start Varlamov against TOR and LAK, but Sorokin starting against Yotes and Flyers, big mistake!
duster19 : That goal at the end of the second was a killer. Again. We have some many vets that are just mailing it in. Game after game. Something has to change.
SI90 : Barzal only one worth a shit offensively
Glorydays22 : Brazal is so unhappy, you can see him on the ice shaking his head, slamming his stick, yelling at refs and anyone else. We cannot lose this guy. We can't have another JT situation again!!! We have to build around this guy the right way. He's got so much freaking talent, but he has NO way who can play with him
scottywiper : Barry's presser was interesting. Talked about the two posters repeatedly and mentioned puck luck.
Also suggested they played ok overall. That the Kings didn't create much.
That's not what I saw. I saw them score twice when game was over. Junk time.
Sounded like he was putting lipstick on a pig.
Jamason : I don't think LA generated a lot, but Varly looked really bad on both goals (and horribly out of position on the third)
Not4u : Big ups to Drew Doughty for not thinking about retirement yet...with 5 years and 51 million in cash left on his deal!

Kinda thought that at the end of last season too, though. That he was just a 'seat filler.' Org seems to like him enough, I mean he's never been waived or benched straight up that I can recall.

I kind of agree, I like him enough, I think his rap is just 'good player on bad team,' he goes through streaks of looking unstoppable but then streaks of being not only ineffective but a total liability. But I love his speed and heart, he's scrappy, seems to like it and fit in here...and he has also previously been a 'selfish' Kovalchuk-like player: instant offense on any line but can't work with anyone. However I do think he has started to use his teammates much better...we could certainly do worse. But unless we lose some additional pieces he's just taking up space. It's a tougher call imo.

Edit: i mean shit, look at that big ass smile after Byfield's goal, that's genuine.

That's a pretty good veteran dman he cooked with that release too, Greene's aging but he's no slouch, excellent stick.
Aa is an odd player. I've seen him with some sick hands but then other times he's invisible. Consistency is key.

I don't blame Petersen for either of those goals. Didn't see the first one with Lee in front of him. Brown and Drew fell asleep at the end. You all are just heat of the moment criticizing. He made some huge saves prior.

Re wind that a bit to Bjornfoot pinching for no reason , and the puck carrier blew right by him. there's no reason to do that, even up two. The 2nd goal was on him, not doubt, he wasn't focused at all, just whiffed. I'll take the win, but the last minute wasn't very good.

Congratulations to Kempe for setting a new career high in goals (17) with 38 games left to extend it. The previous mark of 16 was established in 81 games. His 4th GWG is also a new career high.

Thoroughly deserved as he’s had a great year with not all of it on the top line.

It’s 18 actually, impressive number given the season still has many games left and the projection we had for him previously.

The Kaliyev nutswingers on this board are hilarious...if Kaliyev would start burying the chances he gets, he might get bumped up at some point.
Please define "nutswinger" for me.

My guess is I will qualify under your condescending nomenclature.
Please explain the last time the Kings drafted a 19 year old who already had an elite NHL shot, i.e., a legiitmate sniper.
The same kid who slipped to the Kings in the 2nd round would go top 10 in a redraft.
The same kid who had 31 pts in 40 games as a 19 yr old in the AHL.
The same kid who has 7 goals in limited playing time while playing primarily with the offensive powerhouses Blake Lizotte (6g 6a) & Brendan Lemieux (7g 1a).
The same kid who is on a line with two players who have 7 (!) total assists between them! So this young offensive savant is playing with two poor distributors (!!).
The same kid who gets maybe 30 seconds of PP time.

You are DAMN RIGHT I love this kid on the Kings.
You are DAMN RIGHT I cannot wait until he is paired with offensive distributors, like the 30 seconds or so he was with 55 & 9.

Take it easy, turbo. You like Kaliyev, I get it....guess what, so do I. My problem is with anyone who is convinced he'd be on a 40-goal tear right now if we was on the 1st line. That idea is a f***ing joke.

Byfield's shot is looking like Robitaille's...... that hard, hard "snap" shot, or "wrister"....... whichever it is, Byfield shoots the way Robitaille shot. That's never a bad thing.

Is it because they're both Year of the Horse (1966 & 2002) ....???? Who knows....

It would be an actual tragedy if Brown is re-signed.

Dude is cooked. Time to move on.

See ya at the Jersey retirement ceremony.

I suppose Brown is a popular whipping boy this year.

4th in ES points (19). Behind Iafallo (20), Danault (21), Kopitar (24).
3rd in ES points per 60 (2.03). Behind AA who has 2.36 (only 12 games) and Danault who has 2.04

He is getting less ice time, less PP ice time, no SH ice time. What's the big deal with having a bit of a veteran presence in a young lineup ?

He can barely keep up with the play and makes mistakes defensively that other players would be benched for. Then there are the turnovers

I wasn't claiming he would score 40. The whole point of my original post (which you called me a Kaliyev nutswinger for) was less about Kaliyev and more about moving Brown down, the consequence of that would obviously be moving Kaliyev up.

I used to always like John Buccigross. I don't recall if he did play-by-play for ESPN back when they had the NHL contract in the 90's and early 2000's but him and that girl that he does the broadcasts with are beyond boring.
i felt like he was alright when he focused on the pbp, but the vast majority of that broadcast just felt like 2 people talking "about" the game while the game was going on rather than actually commentating. like it was 2 color commentators instead of the usual 1 pbp/1 color. thought that lady's color was pretty high quality when they were on topic but there was just too much yammering

I think this is a case of folks focusing on the bad and not noticing when he actually does make a good play. DB has:

A DFF% (dangerous situations for vs. against) of 51.6
a CF% of 52.3
a GF% of 57.1 (which is fantastic)

And he does this while facing above-average competition, only second to Arvidsson.

You don't get those kinds of numbers if you are that poor defensively and turn the puck over all the time. Sure, he does those things, and a lot of times they are glaring. But he does more good than bad without a doubt. He's not what he was, but he's not that bad. He's one of our better ES forwards.

Yeah i've seen a few other games they've called too and had the same perspective. It sounds like a Saturday Night Live sketch with Ana Gasteyer and Will Farrell. Two people speaking very softly and casually while there is a game being played in the background.

Nope. Doesn't change that he's actually doing pretty well this year, though. There are very few forwards I would sign at a 35+ contract regardless of how well they are performing, let alone one that will be turning 38.
Yea I just thought that was the discussion my bad
