He wasn't loaned. He signed with Jokerit of the KHL. Two years.

But Habs still qualified him in case he returns, they keep his rights. If they want to keep his rights next year, they will need to qualify him again.

It was similar to Hudon last year, who signed in Europe, but Habs qualified him to keep his rights. They still let him go a year later. But just in case, they retain his rights.

AFAIK, they didn't let go of Hudon's right. He became UFA due to age.

This will happen on February 06 2024 for Leskinen (unless they let him go before that).

Looks like they’re going for it at the AHL level this season. Strange number of AHL only contracts for established guys. Not much room for young guys either.

Most of those signings are for 3R and as injury call ups for Laval. It is mainly guys on NHL deals that will play in Laval with a couple of exceptions.

Looks like Alex Dubeau will be invited to Laval's camp. He won a Memorial Cup in 2012.

He played 5 years in the Q for Shawinigan and Moncton. He then played 4 years for the University of New Brunswick in USports. And then he's been in the ECHL the last 3 years and also played 3 AHL games with Belleville.

Edit: Confirmed invite:

It is surprising that the organization has not invited or signed a younger, more prospect type goalie to develop in 3R. I expected the spot to go to a goalie who just completed his time in the Q, and they want to see if he has a future as a pro with a veteran like Poulin to help him out.

I don't know what the plan is for Gravel. Will they have him at the Laval camp, as well? So he might be that goalie.

But Zadarnowski did mention that he believes another team will loan their goalie to 3R (similar to how Habs had loaned McNiven to other ECHL teams).

Anthony Marcotte said that the Laval Rocket camp is set to start on Monday. A lot of cuts today (mostly Group C that was a group of a bunch of AHL contracted players, as well as the injured players).

With Martel and Poulin sent down to Laval from the main camp, the only two AHL contracted players left at the camp are Gabriel Bourque and Jean-Christophe Beaudin.

Both of them are playing tonight. So we will surely get the confirmation that they will be cut after the game.

The only think that will be determined is which prospects and guys under NHL deals mainly signed for Laval will be cut and which ones will stick around for more looks.

Laval camp starts tomorrow. And next Friday and Saturday, they have two preseason games. One vs. Toronto and the other vs. Belleville. All the games will be played at Belleville's arena.

McNiven will be placed on waivers today at noon. If he clears, the goalies at the Laval camp will be McNiven, Gravel, and Dubeau. I don't know how long Primeau will stay at the Habs camp. So he will join Laval later.

And Poulin, no?

Their camp starts today.

Not listed are the players that were cut last night and placed on waivers today. Will join the Laval camp if they clear tomorrow.

And with Vejdemo listed, it means he cleared waivers.
