Ok to step into your logic, many athletes are reporting only being at 90% weeks after (with no understanding of when/if they’ll get to 100), and in leagues where losing even a fraction of step get you benched, that would seem like a problem.
So what — you want to cancel sports seasons because a tiny fraction of athletes report not being 100% weeks after testing positive?

Please. This fear porn needs to cease.

re: talks? The owners want the players to defer a portion of their salaries to future years, the players are split with some being willing, and some upset that they're revisiting a thing they signed just a few months ago in order for the players to give back more money.

I mean, we're at the point of straight up trolling. I got it with the Ghost stuff because it was almost a jest at the hardcore fanatics. But playing down 1.41 million deaths worldwide doesn't sit right with me. Thats just the tone of an absolute scumbag.

Time for Silent Igor I think

Think what the MLB owners and the MLBPA went through last season. Owners want more money back than what they agreed to a few months ago and NHLPA isn't committing at this point.

With training camps just a few or even a couple weeks away... this thing isn't happening on time unless something is reached quickly.

You asked for experts who supported my anti-
lockdown views & I gave some to you. Do you think a Stanford medical professor/epidemiologist is “trolling”?

The anti-lockdown Great Barrington Declaration has over 100k signatures from academics & medical practitioners. Are they “trolling” “scumbags”?

It’s not “playing down” deaths to disagree with widespread lockdowns & all of the ancillary damage they cause. It’s perfectly reasonable to believe mass shutdowns are vastly disproportionate to the risk the majority of the population face from Covid. Live in your echo chamber all you want, but you should consider that not everyone agrees with a monomaniacal fixation on a single virus with a death rate not much higher than a bad seasonal flu. This has become absolute fear porn.

"As of Tuesday, more than 30,000 academics, medical practitioners and public health scientists from the U.S., U.K. and other nations had allegedly signed the declaration, according to its website, marking the largest split from the prevailing scientific support for lockdowns as an anti-coronavirus strategy.

Sky News, however, found that the declaration contained numerous fake names including “Dr Johnny Bananas,” “Professor Cominic Dummings,” a person residing at the “university of your mum” and a professed specialist whose name was the first verse of the “Macarena,” according to the Guardian. There were also more than 100 therapists and homeopaths, who listed themselves as experts in fields ranging from massage to hypnotherapy."

I have to say, not caring about football and having no flyers to sap my attention and energy has been a good thing for my family. I’d be fine if they canceled the season and that is pretty crazy for me to say.

As soon as they fired Hak, Charlie became very much a fan boy.

That whole BSH podcast which actually wasn’t too bad before, has taken on that attitude.

So what? Are you suggesting that because some pro-lockdown people trolled the Barrington Declaration with fake signatures that renders the tens of thousands of legit signatures invalid?

Point is there are plenty of experts who disagree with the shutdown strategy.

Sigh. You know sometimes I wonder. Busting my own ass, working (just for a recent example) - 72 hours in 8 days. For this kind of attitude. It wouldn’t be allowed but I’d love to give a grand tour, not for 5 minutes - but a whole shift in one of my ICU’s.

This isn’t even the thread for this BS, but I don’t give a f***. Your attitude, of economy first and healthcare be damned - is the exact reason these measures need to be in place. These healthcare systems have no space for this kind of influx. It’s about ensuring you have a half alive individual left to operate the ventilator you may need.

Don’t like the restrictions? Nobody does. Blame those who built this house of cards to begin with.

I took a break from here to reset after losing my mind over the lockdowns/mask wearing etc. Our numbers are climbing to a point I can see full occupancy of COVID patients meaning the normal hospital services are no longer available by Christmas if it keeps up. But yeah to take those on a walk through an ICU would be a shock to their system, would it change their minds probably not.

Herd immunity is a crazy idea, because the vulnerable are mostly sheltering in place if they can - but tens of millions don't have that option (the poor can't isolate, those who need to work can't isolate, those in nursing homes are vulnerable to the staff, mostly underpaid workers who can't isolate, and so on).

What this really reflects is a right wing attitude that people only matter as workers, and should be coerced to work, they oppose safety regulations that would raise labor costs (but protect workers), universal access to health care (including preventive medicine that would lower health care costs for all), etc. This isn't driven by economic rationality (they ooppose regulations that are supported by cost-benefit analysis) but "I got mine, f--- you" economic libertarianism.

My answer to economic libertarians is simple, cost benefit analysis shows that bullets are cheap, and it's rational for the mass of people to hang the economic libertarians and the oligarchs they support, since this will provide them with substantial economic benefits.

The grim reality of the situation has not been shown to the American public nearly as much as it needs to be.

I never said anything about cancelling sports. All I want is for people to not downplay it. Of course I want hockey, but if we’re going to have it I want it done safely. And I would like more of my fellow Americans to take it seriously so that we can move past this.

Aren't writers allowed to say anything positive about the Flyers anymore? Hayes had a good first season and has really improved this team. Why not mention it?
If all the writers showed the same attitude as some posters here their output would be absolutely miserable and they all would be out of their jobs quickly.
