If there is justice among the hockey gods, the Isles lose the play in and win the lottery for us.

Otherwise, some fiasco will happen, as usual.

15 teams in the lottery as per usual... Only real issue the possible teams getting a crack at it which could turn out to be a head shaker

Isles pick is top 3 protected.

But they could lose and slide in the top 15 which would be amazing...

So stupid to make phase 2 equal odds between all teams. What the f*** is that. Can’t wait for Edmonton/Pittsburgh/Chicago/Toronto to be pickings top 3

Just to clarify if that means let's say the first pick is one by a play in team, that picks 2 and 3 everyone is given the same odds of 12.5 %?

Does that mean we will have the same odds as let's say Montreal or Pittsburgh or whoever loses??

So it was explained like this. Regular lottery but instead of names for 8-15, its letters. If one, two or three of those letters win, then there will be a seperate lottery for those 8 play in losers. Each having a 12.5 % chance at those picks.

We maintain our odds including 13.5%, 11.5% for first as per tankathon.

The draft lottery does not change at all for the bottm 7 teams. It is the exact same scenario as if the season played out. They have their normal assigned odds at 1/2/3.

Teams 8-15 are placeholder picks. If one of those teams wins the lottery, or wins multiple lotteries, the NHL is going to do a second lottery that only has the 8 losers from the first round of the 24 team playoff. These 8 losers will all get a 12.5 percent chance at each lottery.

So let's say the lottery unfolds like....
1 - Spot 8
2 - NJD
3 - BUF

That means, after the playoffs, the 8 losing teams will have a new lottery for first overall, they will all have a 12.5 percent chance.

So we could see an unprecedented exciting scenario where teams like Toronto, Pittsburgh, and Edmonton have a 12.5 chance at the first overall (or any of the top 3 picks). If you don't like Toronto getting Lafreniere, to quote Elliotte Friedman, "You have no soul!".

It will be:

1. Montreal
2. Chicago
3. Toronto
4. Detroit
5. Ottawa
6. Ottawa

NHL gets the ratings by including big markets in the "play-in", big markets get an extra reward if it just doesn't work out their way.

So:
For us, the odds of 1-2-3 will be the same as if the season were to have ended traditionally, with us finishing 29th and 30th. It seems like a defeat with some of the proposed scenarios of the past 2 months, but this is a huge win.
It's highly unlikely we would have maintained our hold on 2-3 if the final 10 games were played out.
I'm just glad there is finally confirmation and we can look ahead to the lottery.

Honestly we have to be happy that the season ended when it did. Last game we confirmed that we'd end up in the 2-3 spots and who knows where we would've ended up with 10 more game played. Bottom line is were in the best position possible and that's a positive in itself, we're pretty lucky to have that.

Our odds also stay the same, and as per any other draft the lowest we could slide is 5 and 6.

This is what I expected and I think it's fair.

It's an absolute joke that the 8-15 teams are even included in this when they get a chance to resume play. The teams in the 1-7 lottery positions are getting bent over. Horrible plan, absolutely horrible.

And this lottery happens before the playoffs right? So the teams in the playoffs could know that they have a significant chance at 1st overall should they lose?
