Probably not the worst idea really. We're seeing the benefit of having cap flexibility this offseason, and maintaining that flexibility could be really important the next couple of years given that teams with capspace are able to take advantage of teams who don't and add good players for next to nothing, like NJ getting Murray and Johnsson for a 5th and a 4th liner for example.
I agree, it's really stupid. Vegas will have had 4 years to build up a roster and prospect pool since 2017 which is more than enough time to have built a franchise that can withstand losing 1 player.
