Im not sleeping on them, they have a great D, and a great ground game. They'll win games for sure, but not because of Josh Allen, regardless of Stefon Diggs.

Sub 60 completion percentage both gears. You can't teach accuracy.

Hell baby
We’ll see

dude didn’t have weapons and wasn’t that far off from Brady’s passing numbers. Plus he can run the ball. Plus this is his 3rd year coming up. Plus he has a #1 WR now

We shall see

Had zero weapons and made the playoffs last year though, so you definitely can win with him. 4 comeback wins in the 4th. Lead the league in that and in game winning drives. He’s tough as nails. Entering year 3. Got a #1. Maybe He’s not winning championships but Dilfer won one so f*** it maybe he can

Seymour, the fact he’s not in yet is lowkey a disgrace. He was the best defender during that first run.

parcells can f*** himself

It would be embarrassing for Seymour to make the Pro Football Hall of Fame before the Patriots'. I think this is the year.

Belichick taking a kicker in the 5th round when there was about 10 guys I loved and many were third round grades Is inexcusable

I wanted Trautman or Harrison Bryant but this Dalton Keene guy is a serious cult guy and a lot of predraft fans/writers/draftnicks were big time Jonesing over him

if Belichick uses him as the ultimate chest piece - where he will dictate every pre-snap coverage based on where he lines up and goes I’m all for it. I don’t see him really as a TE although he can play there and will but he looks like he is going to lineup behind the line most of the time

I have o.0 with the first 5 picks although I’d have gone differently with the two TE but Bill really screwed up in that 5th with a guy he 99% could have got later

Fairly certain there is a specific reason he picks specialists in the 5th (or earlier in gostkowski’s case), probably something to do with contracts

As a football genius myself I am 99.9% certain Belichick plan is brilliant (I still hated with the fire of a thousand suns not taking at least one of Trautman or Bryant at TE; and a kicker over Bradlee Anae, Kenny Willikes, or Quintez Cephus) but even geniuses aren’t perfect

on Defense Bill knows it’s a pinball attack down the field offense in the NFL these days - 30 points a game seems to be the objective

what’s the counter?

great secondary ~ he’s got
Attack the QB reducing time & space
Keep the play in the middle

his first 3 picks did just that

Jennings skill seems to be exactly what Belichick coveted- sets the edge and has no problems making plays behind the line. He has limitations but they aren’t where Belichick is shopping.

offense - talented & intelligent OL first and foremost

if you have that you can fairly evaluate the QB

they need to find out about these guys on offense - and in a weird year perfect time
Stidham
Harris
Michel
Froholdt
Harry
Cajuste
Meyers

Bucky Brooks on Jennings

‘Not flashy but really good football player~ Instinctive, tough, physical. Will be better pro than college player. ‘Night Club Bouncer.’

great - he will set the edge and can penetrate and knock back blockers to make losses in the run game. You won’t see sacks because you are given up the edge of course but he can react and push back to end plays at or before the line.

So I saw a highlight thread on Twitter that mentioned how Dalton Keene had 11 carries last year (though just minimal success at 3 yds. per carry).

Then, they showed how the Patriots have given carries to their TEs recently (Bennett had 2 in 2016, and then Hernandez had 9 in 2010-2012).

It then made me wonder how Keene's athletic profile compares to Hernandez, since they're both H-Backs. Here's what I found:

PlayerHeightWeightArm LengthHand Size40-yd dash10-yd split20-yd split20-yd shuttle3-coneverticalbroad jumpbench press
Keene6'4"253 lb32.25"9.75"4.711.622.734.197.0734"10'5" 21
Hernandez6'2.375"245 lb32.25"9.75"4.641.652.714.186.8333"9'3" 30
[TBODY] [/TBODY]
It's almost the exact same profile. Keene is slightly taller and more explosive (broad jump), but a little less agile/quick (3-cone), and not quite as strong (bench press). I'm sure it's been mentioned by others before, but I'd be willing to bet that Belichick sees Keene as filling the same role as Hernandez (minus the psychopath part).

The assumption with drafting two TEs is that they'll return to the 2010-2012 offense, but when you go back to look at the other, non-TE offensive personnel from 2010-2012, it makes a lot more sense. You had Welker as WR1 (Edelman now) and then a big drop off to a 30+ WR2 in Deion Branch/BrandonLloyd (Sanu now). None of those teams had a quality WR3, so that's where they need Harry to step up this year.

Meyers and Stidham looked good together in the preseason last year too. I’m hoping that chemistry carries over to playing actual competition

I don't get the pessimism around Josh Allen. He is not an accurate QB sure, but he is light years ahead of stiffs like Darnold, Rudolph, Winston, and the like who makes bone headed throwing decision that make you scream "What the f***ing hell are you doing?" Not only that, the kid is in his second year of the league and arguably made improvements as a Quarterback. Is he elite? No. Will he ever be elite? Probably not. Is he a game manager? I would say no. He's a decent quarterback that, with the right pieces around him, can be as good as an Alex Smith or something similar that can also make plays with his legs. Not only that, he was always going to take a little more time to develop and should have been picked up by a team with a QB that could buy Allen some time to improve. But because Buffalo was stupid and had no one to be a stop gap after they screwed over Taylor and dumped McCarron, Allen had to immediately take over from Petermeme and went under a trial by fire. A trial I would argue, he passed with success. He will always be in the shadow of Lamar Jackson and Baker Mayfield, and many will always ask why teams took him or Darnold over Jackson. But given how the main QBs of that class have panned out so far, he's not the worst choice Buffalo could have made.
