SABRES ACQUIRE COMPHER, TIMMONS FROM AVALANCHE
BUFFALO, NY - The Buffalo Sabres announced today that the team has acquired forwards J.T. Compher and Cam Morrison and defenseman Conor Timmins from the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen and forward Zemgus Girgensons. The Sabres also signed Morrison to a 3-year, entry level contract.
Compher (6' 0", 180 lbs, 4/8/1995) re-joins the Sabres after spending the last four seasons with the Avalanche. In 223 games, he has amassed 43 goals and 48 assists for 91 points. Prior to joining the Avalanche, Compher spent three seasons with the NCAA's Michigan Wolverines, including the 2015-16 season where he scored 63 points in 38 games and served as Captain. The Northbrook, Illinois native was drafted in the 2nd round, 35th overall by the Buffalo Sabres in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.
Timmons (6' 2", 185 lbs, 9/18/1998) comes to Buffalo after splitting the 2019-20 season between the Avalanche and the AHL's Colorado Eagles. Prior to missing the 2018-19 season due to injury, Timmons spent three seasons with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds of the Ontario Hockey League and played for Team Canada at the 2018 IIHF World Junior Championship. The St. Catharines, Ontario native was drafted in the 2nd round, 32nd overall by the Avalanche in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft.
Morrison (6' 2", 201 lbs, 8/27/1998) will begin his professional hockey career this fall after playing for the NCAA's Notre Dame Fighting Irish for the last four seasons. While at Notre Dame, Morrison tallied 44 goals and 51 assists for 95 points over 149 games. The Aurora, Ontario native was drafted in the 2nd round, 40th overall by the Avalanche in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.

We are excited about Conor and Cam as prospects and feel they will both compete for a roster spot on day one. We thank Rasmus and Zemgus for their time in Buffalo and wish them the best in Colorado."
The 2020 NHL Entry Draft begins virtually this weekend.
