The reason you need players willing to get their hands dirty is to keep your team invested in the game. You have to be able to dictate and respond to anything that could happen. Sometimes that is violence. Its a violent game, you can't just look at the refs to bail you out.

Teams know when you are meek and over-matched, and there is no reason to just give them that confidence advantage if you can avoid it. You have to be respected.

Except the Kings really aren’t? I mean what 2 maybe 3 questionable hits against the Kings this season? Is that really an outlier?Or is Lemieux solving a problem the Kings don’t have?

Despite the PP ranking somehow being good, we always knew for the most part this team’s performance with the man advantage was crap. They haven’t scored a PP goal for three straight games now.
