Monten afraid to use youngsters as usual. Absolute joke to not see Noel Gunler and Simon Holmström playing.

It's crazy to see SHL-players like Fagemo, Lundkvist, Cederqvist, Eriksson and Ginning being toyed with like this. Perhaps it's time to call bullshit on SHL as a general yardstick for quality - unless you are are a true impact player.

It really is crazy, but doesn’t say anything about the SHL as a league. A few players don’t say much about a whole league. The SHL is still very much the third best league in the world.

The players really should do better, but Monten is an absolute joke too.

Elias Pettersson looked meh at this tournament so it might not be a great measure stick in summer

He was pretty meh in the wjc as well. Except for pp, which obviously counts as well - not the least as the Swedish WJSS team so far is 0% in pp through three games...

And the tournament is not indicative of U20 success. Look at the records over the last few years, it doesn't correlate in December.

Edit - @William H Bonney did the grunt work on that - it is in the US 2020 U20 thread. Credit where credit is due.

Could be wrong, but didn't Lundkvist get hurt in Game 1? Pretty sure he was being held out for the rest of the tourney.

Woah! What happened there? The Finnish team wasn't even that strong on the paper. Then again talking about strange occurrences in hockey, when a punch of nobodies win a gold at @ Worlds' then what's one individual game compared to that. Kind of meaningless result, but still nice.

Defense looks pretty good on paper imo.

Canadian goalie struggled badly
Hunter did not change lines or do anything to light a fire.
Kept putting out his players (Foudy) and others he knows from the O.
One game.
