Maybe .But they caught him. There is one good way to deal with it that might curb it.Start banning guys for life.I will never condone cheating.
I agree with you on the life bans. Unfortunately, there is just too much money on the table for all the parties involved for there to not be such a large incentive. This trickles down to kids too, which is the biggest shame. I mean come on, look at the NFL. Wouldn't be crazy to assume that 100% of the league is on the gear, and I don't see that changing. We've got high school football players being roided to the gills now just to get their shot.

Wright maintained that he did not knowingly take a PED.

“We couldn’t figure out how this particular substance got into my system,” he said. “And at the end of the day, it falls on me to try to prevent that, and unfortunately, somewhere it got into my body, and I don’t know how.”

I call bullspit. The guy's had a bad knee that's been a problem for nearly 2 seasons now. There is no way in hell he didn't know.

Honestly can't blame the guy for trying to extend his career. By all accounts his knee is in terrible shape. Probably worth the risk of missing 80 games if it makes a significant difference.

Hell baby
Apparently JBJ was working with JD’s guy this winter and made an adjustment with his swing. Will be interesting to see.

Bullpen is gonna be a wild ride but imo this is the best way to build a roster. Spend as little on relievers as possible. Most volatile position in all of sports

I 100% blame Wright. They set the rules, he knows the rules, he broke the rules and now he is punished for it.

And now he is taking the road that so many before him did treating us like we are all morons stating he didn't know how it got into his system.

0.0 sympathy for this guy.

At the risk of repeating something that was already many posts ago and I didn't read, I haven't heard much stand-up from him lately. I didn't think comics needed any other PED than cocaine or alcohol or coffee.

No, it's all bad. I'm sorry. My wife is away in Japan for three weeks so I have no filter or Jiminy Cricket.
Was just coming in to say that every time i see this thread title, i think of:

OK - time for me to go a bit off subject here. I saw Steven Wright do stand-up way back before anybody knew who the hell he was. I still remember his first few jokes like the show happened last night:

- everybody says it's a small world.....but I wouldn't want to paint it.
- I've been seeing this nice girl for a few years now......someday I'll tell her.
- you know that feeling you get when you keep leaning back in a chair and then you almost fall backwards....I feel like that all the time.

He was amazing that night but he looked like somebody had just told him that his Mom had died. We didn't realize that being deadpanned for his entire set was part of his act. I thought he had a chance to be a big star and then a couple of years later I saw him on Letterman. :thumbu:

86 World Series would have ended differently if Seaver hadn't gotten hurt in Toronto and he started instead of Al Nipper

At the very least, he would've been there to stop the bleeding in game 7 when Hurst started to tire instead of an over-used Schiraldi when Oil Can showed up in no condition to perform.

Just so sad. I picked up a ball because of Tom Seaver and pitched because of Tom Seaver and basically became a baseball fan because of Tom Seaver. I threw all my Mets stuff out a month before my ninth birthday when he was shockingly traded. I continued to watch however, and sadly continued to be a Mets fan LOL.

He was like the Mets' Broadway Joe, just a larger than life real life Superman for me back in the day. I saw my mother in law go thru this and it's just brutal. Sad day.

Pete Rose has a valid point for once

Think Pete Rose has something to say about baseball jumping in bed with gamblers? You bet he does

"I guess what it comes down to is baseball is now in bed with the same people who got me kicked out of the game," Rose said. "They can say what they want but this is all about money. You're telling me the managers have to submit their lineups to the league office so the casino can set the lines on the games? What happens if right before game time your starting pitcher has a cramp and has to be scratched? Is the manager gonna get blamed for that ... for screwing up the line?"

Regardless of how MLB chooses to spin this — as a practical move on their part, brought about by a Supreme Court decision that was out of their control — Rose would be justified in saying they are hypocrites for cashing in on gambling while still keeping him out of the game and ineligible for the Hall of Fame because he bet on baseball. Now everyone can be betting on baseball and you can forget about those "No Betting" signs that used to adorn every ballpark
