We last had an offer sheet 6 years ago. GMs don’t do them. Every year people get excited about them, but until proven otherwise they seem completely dead at this point. Something for fans to speculate about, media to hype, and GMs to be mildly concerned about, but nothing that serious. GMs seem far too scared of being blacklisted and for upsetting the apple cart for everyone of total team control of RFA contracts.

So, to answer your question...until proven otherwise, no teams and no players.

Marner and point would be the two you would probably go for if you didn't want a team to just match it without thinking .

Maybe some of the lower hit / comp guys but out of the high market guys those two. Idk what Calgary's cap is like so maybe tkachuk ?

Lou should be the one who breaks the cease fire. A predatory offer sheet to Marner from the Islanders would be Corleone-esque. The Isles had a great season, theu have the picks, they have the cap room, and it gives their franchise player Barzal a fantastic linemate. Not to mention is would be the most gangster revenge on the history of this league.

You really only see offer sheets thrown out when there is somewhat of a chance that it'll actually get the player. You don't see them as a way to just screw over a rival team.

The only one I could see as a chance is Marner due to the Leafs cap situation.

Trouba is basically the most likely to not sign one . If you were really high on laine maybe you could offer something to him wpg wouldn't match ?

Tampa is very tight on the cap, it seems they have about $6.376 million to spend, while Brayden Point needs to be signed.

If Tampa can't find a way to pay him $10-12 million per, surely someone will offer sheet him.

Welcome to the NHL, you must be new here.
Well obviously they rarely sign but it has happened...If there's ever been a year for offer sheet chaos, this is it. Younger players are demanding more and more these days. Teams like Toronto and Tampa have set themselves up perfectly. If they're unable to make cap adjustments, Mitch and Brayden can get much better deals elsewhere. They're more than likely leaving money on the table if they re-sign. EDM set the bar pretty high with the McDavid/Drai contracts and Toronto followed right in their footsteps with the massive contracts they've dished out recently. Agents of other young players take notice to that.

McAvoy isn't eligible for an offer-sheet.

There is only one person on that list with any remote chance of being offer sheeted, Marner. Point will be re-signed by Tampa, Karlsson will be back in Vegas, and the rest will be resigned or in some cases traded away. Marner is the only one that will have a serious problem getting the contract he wants from his team, which will lead to offer sheets. Toronto has no way out of their Matthews mess without destroying their team.

Tampa and Toronto have about the same amount of cap space right now, though if they LTIR Horton, which is easy enough, they have over $4 mil more space, without making moves. That's with 17 signed for Toronto as of now, and 16 for Tampa.

There is no logic to say Marner is the only one that will have serious problems, when the Cap situation in Toronto and Tampa aren't too different, maybe Toronto's is a bit better, and both players deserve about the same amount.

Tampa has two things going for them. Taxes like always . And the stars on their team all took discounts

I think it's really cool that Brandon Carlo lists his name like James Bond.

I don't see one happening, but agree it would be super cool to see the Isles go after Marner, after losing Tavares to Toronto

Winnipeg, Toronto, VGK and TB players will all get offer sheets sent to them.

I think we will see at least 2 players sign offer sheets, with both teams matching.

The second is most certainly true.... and the taxes, yes... and yet, even if taken into consideration, if you put a number up for Marner, and then take off $1-1.5 million for Point, it's still a cap issue.

They will move callahan somehow and then one of miller or gourde if they have to , but yes they are also pretty tight to the cap so they would have to think about matching anything too rich .

Half their team having some sort of trade clause makes it a bit tough for them to move cap around .

..and the Leafs could move Kadri, Marleau, Zaitsev, Kapanen... I think the situations are very similar.
