How is Björnfot pronounced?

Is it with the B or is the B silent?

Is it B-jorn-faht or is it Jorn-Faht?

I admit I wish his name had an extra "o" in it so it would be Björnfoot.

If I had to guess it would be pronounced like "be-yorn-foot" or "be-yorn-fot"

Pretty sure that name translates to English as Bear Foot

I had been inclined for Shero to seriously entertain trading up from 34 into the back-half of round 1 if a player like Seider was still available at around pick 25 on (I use Seider as an example but am as close to positive as can be there is no chance of that happening with his draft stock skyrocketing.). However, after reviewing your list Steven, it is clear to me that there will be a terrific player available at 34. Why give up a valuable asset that can be used in a deal to acquire a roster player like Zucker when it is guaranteed we can select a high upside prospect anyway? This looks to be one of the proverbial sweet spots of the draft and round 1 talent perennially trickles or outright falls into round 2.

My personal preference is Thomson or Korczak- not sure which of the teammates I prefer as their skill sets are quite different, yet equally enticing. I do think there’s a strong chance Korczak is available at 34 whereas I can envision Thomson being off the board. With a very real chance of both being there, I would not envy that decision but it’s a good one to have to make. I’m not opposed to a forward being selected with the pick if it is Rees, Brink or Leason for example. Even still, from an organization standpoint, I’d like to see us bolster on defensive prospect pool.

As always, Steven, thank you so much for all your hard work and thorough draft analysis. You are an incredible asset to our Devils community here and one of my favorite reads that keeps me coming back for more!!

I am extremely excited about the #34 pick. In this draft, it will certainly be first-round quality if the Devils use it correctly. Just take the highest rated player on your draft board, and don't worry about positional need unless it's a deciding factor between two closely-ranked players. But -- let's face it -- you just mentioned five players (Thomson, Korczak, Rees, Brink, Leason) who would all be terrific adds to the prospect pool. Several of these guys will be picked prior to #34, but I'd be shocked if at least one of them were not still available.

Of course, thanks for all the kind words. As always, I'll continue to post here for a few weeks after the draft and then vanish for several months.

It translates to Bear Foot, yes.

For the pronounciation; Remove that "e", please. B-jorn-foot would be close enough, I guess. Should try to prolong the "oo"-sound in Foot a little.

I haven't got the faintest idea how to explain to you to get the "ö"-sound correct, but I'll give it a try; It's like you're asked a question you don't know the answer to and just go; "uhhhh". Make that sound real short. B-jurn-foot :thumbu:

@StevenToddIves did you see the player comparisons from USA coaches and scouts? I think it was on the athletic, super interesting and was wondering what you thought.

Yeah he's one of those guys that are just on the outside looking in for me. There's a lot to like about his game but his skating isn't quite there to put him in my top-62.
Pretty low ranking on Knight. I'd definitely have to think long and hard if he was available at 34, even if there are still some good skaters out there (which I'm sure there will be).

I'm wondering who are the candidates to drop to the 2nd. Every year there are players that plummet - Bode Wilde is the first name that comes to mind in previous drafts.

If he some how fell too 55 or 61-62 I would be absolutely ecstatic. I just have a gut feeling hes going to turn into a James Neal like power winger who is going to score through volume. With our plethora of pass first players he would be such a great fit, especially considering hes a power winger that's a right wing and right shot, if he is there that late I am running to make the pick.
