1st mock of the year is pretty much done: 2019 7-Round Mock Draft 1.0 (All GMs see post #552)

1(20): Matthew Robertson
2(51): Jordan Spence
2(54): Jamieson Rees
3(82): Alex Beaucage
4(113): Yegor Serdyuk
4(123): Josh Nodler
5(126): Ryan Siedem
5(135): Zac Jones
6(175): Christopher Merisier-Ortiz
7(215): Jack Malone

Nice work. It's very Q heavy and I haven't even started on that league so I can't comment too generally, but I'd be happy if we ended up with Matthew Robertson and Jamieson Rees in our prospect pool. In your opinion is this perhaps a banner year for the Q?

really good depth for Q forwards this year, yea

Huskies look really good, strong system/good defensive play. Beaucage continues to impress, gonna be interesting to watch him down the stretch.

And you seem to really like Spence. What's your read on him?

I stole this draft TBH

26- Nick Robertson, LW, OHL
57- Yegor Spiridonov, C, MHL
86- Matvei Guskov, C, OHL
88- Sacha Mutala, RW, WHL
91- Yaroslav Likhachyov, RW, QJMHL

Traded 119, 140, 144, 150 for a third in 2020 and Calen Addison

Traded Gusev, Whitecloud, Bouchard and a 5th for Zuccarelo, Eaves and Sprong

Going for a hella run this year with Zucc solidifying my top 9 and I added a lot of future talent in Robertson, Spiridonov, Addison, Mutala, Guskov, Sprong and Likhachyov

OOoof, Afanasyev has a brutally powerful shot. Low key on his goal against central illinois was his quick playmaking to get the rush started with numbers.

He does have a hella powerful shot. What a skillset on that dude.

I like players like him. He has a thing that he can do at the NHL level. Some of the projection is taken out of it. I think to project him is all a matter of how he will fare in a faster game.

Ultimately, I think it's probably not gonna work out for him. But if it does, oh man.
He's a long shot type for sure, but he's a gamble worth taking especially if its later on in the 2nd round. I think someone will see his shot, his size, his wheels and his hands and just gamble on him early though.

I swear Maccelli was maybe 5'8 a year ago. CS says 5'11, and that doesn't look too far off. It was hilarious watching him at the earlier 5 nations tournament against the ginormous USA squad last year. He and a bunch of Finland's team (Kristian Tanus) looked like 12 year olds playing against an NCAA team. They managed to win the game through sheer smarts and playmaking ability. Now that he's no longer a lilliputian he's actually a very interesting prospect.

Just a really smart 2 way dman with offensive upside, playing top pairing minutes in his rookie season and he's doing really well. High upside.

Normally he'd be a 4th or 5th rounder given his size and pedigree (had i not seen much of him, he actually didnt get drafted in his first year of eligibility) but i've seen a decent amount of him this year and i've loved him. His defensive awarness/hockey IQ puts him over the top for me, without that element i wouldn't be comfortable drafting him that early.

Rees 54th and Serdyuk 113th are amazing picks. I can't comment on all those guys but I'd love if we came out of the draft with that pool of prospects.

I've got Montreal next draft, let y'all know how it goes

Kaliyev now has 41 goals 40 assists in 52 games... I wonder if a team in the top-10 will think about taking him early
I've done a full 180 on Kaliyev. First viewings, I thought he was just a finisher, with little skating ability and dynamism to his game. Since, I've been blown away by his offensive awareness.
