Chile and Uruguay mostly just going through the motions here. Pitch intruder was the most action packed sequence so far.

Cavani sweet header. Uruguay goes up 1-0 in the 82nd minute and currently top the group.

Peru dealt a huge blow as Farfan is ruled out for the rest of the tournament.

Anyhow, quarters are set-

Brazil v Paraguay
Argentina v Venezuela

Colombia v Chile
Uruguay v Peru

Suarez is nuts

A guy walked into the field with an Argentina flag then Gonzalo Jaza kicked him and Suarez went right after the reff asking for a red card lol

What's worse is that he asked for a red after the keeper made a save. I honestly think his brain shuts off during the moment. You can see his reaction afterwards suggesting he knew it was a lost chance.

Not our best game. Chile were actually better at playing from the back. Wish Uruguay would stop using the long balls so much. We have skilled kids in the midfield that should allow us to do so. And get rid of Lodeiro. One good game and then went back to his old no impact self.

Do you mean when he shot at the keeper and the keeper saved using his arms and raised his arms appealing a 'handball' but tried to play it off 2 seconds later when he realized it was dumb?:laugh:

Gotta love Suarez lmao. This dude reminds me of that type playing basketball to call 'foul' when no one is anywhere near them because they missed the shot.

One thing we can all agree on Suarez gave us so much material throughout the years lol.

Referee points to the spot as Firmino is taken down. Looks like it was possibly just outside the box though.

Lol.

VAR check reverses they PK call and awards a free kick just outside the box, but also saw the ref give a straight red to Balbuena for the foul instead of just the foul call.

Paraguay down to 10 men.

The foul was soft as butter although likely still a foul...Firmino sold it for all he was worth. A red card is truly ridiculous there. A yellow would have been more than enough. If you are going to kill a game of football as a referee it had better be for a damn good reason.

Brazil putting on quite a show but they can't buy a goal.

So you don't think that was an obvious goal-scoring opportunity?
It was a decent opportunity and Balbuena got slightly on the wrong side but the contact was incredibly slight...if he had gone through him with force then yes...red...he got very little of Firmino and so a free kick and a yellow does it for me.

Penalties and red cards are absolutely game changing moments so they had better be warranted.

Ya. Paraguay have been hanging on for dear life since being reduced down to 10 men.

So it’s penalties right? They don’t do extra time until the final in this tournament.

Ten man Paraguay hold on.
