Not sure if this is the right thread, but found this Florida "potential" prospect news.

Interesting. We do have a fair bit of young promising LDs, would have been better if he was a RD, not sure if he can play both sides but this may make sense since Knight, Hutsko and Finkelstein are FLA prospects so he could be tagging along to get some experience in camp?

Good to hear he had other offers and chose us though, appreciate the info

Interesting article by The Athletic on Borgstrom.

Basically describes his "sophomore slump" - started out pencilled at 3C, then struggled, then started struggling mentally in SPR and lost confidence. His coaches said he needed to "start enjoying the game again", and say that he has recently looked much better. They think he could be called up soon, though there's still the possibility that he will be traded as a part of a package.

AHL:

T-Birds (28-23-2-0, 5th in Atlantic) back in action, hosting the Wolfpack (29-13-5-5, 2nd in Atlantic)
Tippett remains out with this mysterious injury

Heponiemi-Borgstrom-Rodewald
Martel-Audette-Thompson
Haggerty-Pu-Ang
Lowry-Abols-Horton

Keeper-Schemitsch
Massie-Prow
Lochead-Mangene

With Derosiers between the pipes!

Birds go down early within 4 mins but come back to lead 2-1 after 20mins on goals by:
Jack Rodewald (5) from Will Lochead (4), Matt Mangene (11)
Paul Thompson (12) from Daniel Audette (20), Danick Martel (15) *new guy Martel helping out already*
Birds get outshot 12-10

Quiet 2nd shutdown period until the rare and elusive Heponiemi goal with 1:32 to go, giving SPR the 3-1 lead after 40mins.
Aleksi Heponiemi (2) from Ethan Prow (19), Brady Keeper (13)
Birds with a 12-7 shot advantage this period.

HFD came out and poured on the shots in the 3rd, 14-3 at one point with 4 mins to go. Lochead dropped the gloves.
SPR weathers the storm and New Guy Martel pops in the final nail, an empty netter to make it 4-1 with 1:16 to play.
Danick Martel (17), unassisted *a goal and a helper for the new guy, atta boy new guy*

Big win for the Birds, that's 3 straight for them, 4th place Charlotte lost, who have 2 gamea in hand but only 2pts ahead now.
Big performance by Desrosiers who stops 36/37.

OHL:

Kolyachonok
's Firebirds put their 14 game win streak on the line against Schwindt's spiraling Steelheads tonight.
This game was over after 40mins, the Firebirds were up 4-0 and cruising along but Steelheads fought back and got it to 4-3 with 5 mins to go. Firebirds pop two late goals and win 6-3 for their 15th in a row.
Both Koly and Schwindt held off the score-sheet though. Koly's stat line was all zeros tonight. Schwindt was a +1 somehow, had 4 SOG and won 12/21 of his face-offs.
Flint is 1st in their division and have moved 3pts up on idle 2nd place Saginaw who have a game in hand.

Noel is rolling now, he had two primary assists, 2 SOG, +2 (2nd assist ended up being GWG) in a 4-3 win for the Rangers.
He also dropped the gloves as well, trying to find some footage, @Ghoste , could use your help bro. :D
Had a roughing penalty late in the game as well but it was 4 on 4 as his penalty was negated by an opposing tripping call.
Our earlier worries of his cold streak are over, looks very motivated since coming back with 2 goals and 6pts in the last 4 games.

I was worried Noel's problems at the start of the Year were due to attitude and not being in the AHL. Almost happy to see that it's really been a back injury all year long.
I've seen him play once live and he killed it in the OHL versus Russia game in London this season. Total Domination on the ice.

WHL:
Ludvig
's Winterhawks win 5:3 over Rybinski's Thunderbirds; Ludvig has a primary assist and a 5 minute fighting major, Rybinski still out with a lower body injury. @TheImpatientPanther, your favorite Seth Jarvis had yet another big game with two goals and an assist plus 7 SOG.

Wedman with two assists in a 3-2 win for the struggling Kelowna; he's having an underwhelming season overall but lately he's picked it up and been their best player more often than not. They also rely heavily on him in the faceoff circle (and I mean heavily - the previous game, he took over half the faceoffs for his team).

College:
BC won on thursday; Knight saved 27/29 shots; Hutsko with to assists and 7 SOG, 2nd star. Yesterday BC had a crushing 10-1 win; Knight saved 17/18 (got replaced by another rookie goalie once it was 9-1 so the other kid could get his first "game" of the year); Hutsko with a goal and 5 SOG, Finkelstein with a goal and was +4; after his goal (9-1) it seems like all hell broke loose because several players from both team got the 10 minute misconduct, including Finkelstein.
All goals here:

Europe:
They didn't play but with their win earlier in the week Denisenko's team has clinched a playoff spot.

@Ghoste , was refreshing his fight card page until I fell asleep. Thanks!
Not a bad scrap, he will get stronger but that's his 9th OHL fight in his career.
Hoping Noel and Ludvig become good friends, maybe Johnny gets him into boxing as well.

TALLON.gif

Tallon watching Johnny and already working out that 8yr deal for him in his head.

This guy is gonna be fun to watch, sweet left jab to pop McNelly's lid off. Love that he's a year ahead and can turn pro next year. You watch his fight against Hardy?
You can see the boxing technique at the start and then he just starts haymaking. :)
Between him and Keeper, we should have some tough SOB's on defense coming up soon.

AHL:

T-Birds get spanked and their 3 game win streak ends, Providence take a 7-4 win.
They were down 6-2 in the 2nd and Bednard pulled after allowing 5 goals on 16 shots.
Derosiers comes in and stops 15/17 in relief.

The bright spots are Borgstrom scored his 10th.
Marchment and Martel each had 2 assists, new guys setting up goals is good to see
Abols and Heponiemi had a goal and an assist (2 goals and 4pts in his last 4 games for Hepo)

Good about Borg and really good about Hepo. Would be nice if Heponiemi had a strong end of the season, something to build on for next year.

Hepo needs time. I think this season will be an eye opener for him and should put him in a good place to figure out what he needs to do over the summer to prepare for next season. I’m still optimistic that he can be a top 9 guy for the main roster.

Borgstrom scored again today.

Also, what’s the deal with this Ethan Prow guy? His numbers look really solid, especially lately. Is he a pure offensive guy or what?

On first glance, a bit surprising he’s never gotten a shot in nhl.

@violaswallet , Tippett remains out again today, really starting to wonder WTF happened, they said it was a minor injury.

AHL:

Syracuse Crunch (26-22-3-5, 4th in North) @ Springfield T-Birds (29-24-2-0, 6th in Atlantic)

Crunch score with 3 seconds to go in the 1st to take a 1-0 lead.
Birds go 0/2 on the PP in the period, also out-shot 18-9.

Crunch take a 2-0 lead on the PP
2 mins to go in 2nd, Prow gets his 8th from a red hot Abols (13), who has 5 goals and 14 points in his last 14 games in bottom 6 role.
Birds out-shot Crunch 11-8 in middle frame.

8mins to go in the 3rd,
Borgstrom scores his 11th on the PP from Prow (21) and Rodewald (11)
*3 goals and 8pts for Borg in his last 11 games, mostly since bumped up to top line*
Headed to OT

Keeper nets the OT winner 2:35 in, his 6th from Desrosiers, his 2nd assist of the year

Desrosiers was a busy man this weekend playing 2 and 2/3 of the 3 games the past 3 days.
Allowed only 5 goals in those games and stopped 34/36 in today's win, going 2-0-0 (yesterday's loss wasn't credited to him even though he played 36mins?)

Birds keep their slimming playoff hopes alive, 3pts out of 4th with 20 games to go.

OHL:

Schwindt
, the lone OHL prospect playing today had a goal and 2 assists in a 8-1 blowout win over Barrie.
Snapped a 3 game pointless streak and now sits with 26 goals, 66pts, +15 in 53 games so far.

That's also his 9th three point or more game this year.

I think Prow or Keeper should get a call-up if need be, both have been having a good year
@MintyFresh88 , yes, Prow has good stats, only the last two years has his offense exploded.
He's a career +33 and rarely takes penalties.

The D-pairings seem to change every couple games, seen everyone on the top, middle and bottom pairing over the year.
Prow has 8 goals, Cross has 7 and Keeper has 6 goals on the back-end.
Prow seems responsible and disciplined where Keeper brings good 2 way ability but fighting and physicality.
