Because he sucks.......Why’d the last place Kings waive the guy they got in the Toffoli trade? Seems odd.
Just to make room for the TDLWhy was this unpinned?
Don't waivers kinda stop after the TDL?Just to make room for the TDL
It'll be back up after
Can still go! But players who change rosters after TDL (trade or waivers) are not eligible for the playoffsDon't waivers kinda stop after the TDL?
I'm assuming assignment waivers and not unconditional?
Probably normal waivers, both players look like they exceeded their callup windows since they last cleared.
They can’t play for another team if claimed, so no reason to expect anyone would submit a claim.
They can play in the regular season, right?
Plus, if the other team actually likes them, they will get them for free.
Good to know - for some reason I thought it was a playoff thing. No, they can't play in the regular season if claimed. There's an old ByLaw that's still in effect which says players on a team's Reserve List at the trade deadline can't play for another team that season.

Seems a strange time to waive someone. Is this just to get him on an AHL roster for when play resumes?
That's only from the Reserve List though, so you can't stock up on Euro players after their season is done. That's what I had thought until I did a little more research and reached out to some knowledgeable sources. The old ByLaw is definitely there, section 12.4. Note the remark on section 10.4 pertaining to waivers doesn't alter anything--it's the same trade deadline date.
"12.4 A player transferred from the Reserve List to the equivalent list of another Member Club following 3:00 o'clock PM Eastern Time of the 26th** day preceding the date of the final game in the League Schedule of Championship Games in any season, shall not be eligible to play for the transferee club during the remainder of that playing season. For Purposes of this By-Law section, the time of a player transfer shall be deemed to be the time when one of the two clubs involved in a transfer first gives FAX or telephone notice thereof to the League office in Montreal. This rule shall also apply to players acquired on waivers after the final date established for loaning a player to a Club in another league under Section 10.4"
** The trade deadline was changed from 26 days out to 40 days out in later agreements.
The term "Reserve List", while it sounds like only players on reserve and not on the main roster, includes unsigned draft choices, unsigned RFAs, signed players on loan to juniors/minors/Europe, and signed players on the active roster/IR.That's only from the Reserve List though, so you can't stock up on Euro players after their season is done.
Avtive roster players can play for their new club if traded post-deadline. Just not in the playoffs.
