I think he can still play even if he clears. I think this is just a paper move to give them flexibility.

Leier had some really nice games with the Flyers in 17/18, but then fell off a cliff. At this point, he's an energy only 4th liner that provides nothing else. Too bad he couldn't keep up his play from his first 10 or so games that year.
