I’m not worried about Broberg or Samorukov.

broberg is an 18 year old defenceman in the SHL, the fact that he’s consistently playing is a big plus at that age. numbers are not that important for broberg this year, he’s learning to be a responsible and professional d man in a top men’s league. He has skill for any who watch him, points will follow as it did Klefbom.

while I’m a huge fan of Samorukov I think people’s expectations have expanded too much. Oilers defensive depth has him buried a lot like the same situation as broberg but Samorukov was and still is a project, He only exploded offensively in the last half of last season it only makes sense if he’s putting up minimal stats on the third pair as a rookie. When the older depth players move on/graduate he will get more opportunities as he did in the ohl. He’s only 20, judgment on him has to wait until he’s atleast 22.

The two-way talent of our d is looking good

lavoie's numbers look great, has anyone gotten a chance to watch him very much this season?

If he can overcome his skating I could easily see him turning into a solid second line player down the line.

Im going to a game soon in Halifax. Ive seen him numerous times. He was a beast in the Mem Cup. They will probably trade him soon to Moncton

I don't see how Lavoie wouldn't be a lock for Team Canada. He's older, has had success for Canada in international tournaments before, and he can slide up or down the lineup anywhere. Plus they're clearly more thin on the RW.

It's wild that we only have 2 players in the entirety of the CHL

His speed might prevent him. He has everything though. Great playmaker and great set of hands. The kid can dangle. Not the most polished skater but Im happy we have him

Anyone know what’s happening with Vincent Desharnais? I haven’t heard anything about him being injured and he’s not playing in the ECHL, so whys he just sitting scratched in the AHL?

Lavoie on the 4th line with Krebs and Zary to start camp. Wouldn't be surprised if they're giving Mercer a chance early and they swap him and Lavoie as the camp goes on.

Rodrigue not playing is likely a good thing, I'd guess.

Olivier Rodrigue makes Team Canada, but in what capacity.

---

Raphael Lavoie survives this round of cut and will head overseas. Team Canada will make one or two more cuts amongst forwards (depending on Dach's availability).

Looking just at stats, Rodgiue is the worst of the 3 this year by a decent margin.
